Barack Obama had no problem sticking his nose into the New York United States Senate Race when he pressured Rep. Carolym Maloney not to challenge Kirsten Gillibrand in a primary.

Barack Obama had no problem sticking his nose into the New York Gubernatorial Race when he recently called Governor Paterson and urged him not to run so that a stronger democrat could run unopposed.

Yet when asked several times the White House refuses to endorse its party's nominee for Mayor of New York City.

According to the Daily News, Obama wont get involved in the race unless Democrat Bill Thompson can shrink Mike Bloomberg's lead down to "low single digits".

What a coward.... Obama sticks his nose where it doesn't belong and then where theres an appropriate time for him to publicly support someone he refuses to...

Dude, he's a politician. If you expected change, you were naive. The only change was between administrations.

Obama made his political bones in Chicago politics. How can anyone not know what that means?

Maybe there's something I'm missing here, but a president's time is pretty valuable and he will not spend time helping candidates who have little chance of an upset. And an endorsement isn't really much good if you don't show up and speak to said candidate's electorate endorsing them.

This has nothing to do with spending any time campaigning for him... This is about the leader of the party refusing to back his partys nominee for a major US Office.

Or maybe they know something about this candidate and they don't want their name linked to them... think about running for re-election, what if this Dem Mayoral candidate turns out to be dirty? You're going to be lambasted for endorsing that candidate. I don't think it has anything to do with cowardice, I think it's political strategy...

sure is... and the people of NYC spoke and forced term limits several years ago... Bloomberg and the city council made a power grab late last year and passed a special order allowing them to run for a third team even though they were term limited.
