Empire State Building To Honor 60 Years Of China Communism

NEW YORK - Critics of China's communist government are protesting plans to light the top of New York's Empire State Building red and yellow to honor that nation's 60th anniversary.

Several supporters of Tibet protested Wednesday outside the iconic building, where a lighting ceremony is planned. The building often changes its lighting colors to mark holidays and big events.

Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner of New York says the lights should not be used to pay tribute to what he called "a nation with a shameful history on human rights."

More proof America is fucked. Of course, since we owe them so much money, I guess we felt the need. :shake:

Eh, they change their lights for EVERYTHING. Who cares?

Here's some examples:'
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 25th Anniversary
Eid-al-Fitr
El Museo del Barrio, Grand Re-Opening
New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence
52nd Annual Steuben Day Parade
Federation of Indian Associations, 29th Annual India Day Parade
Caribbean Tourism Development Company, Caribbean Week 2009
Intrepid Museum Re-Opening
Corporate Philanthropy Day

etc.

And there's a whole lot more... just from this year.

Mao Tse Tung has more blood on his hands than any other figure in human history. More than Stalin at 55 million and more than Lenin or Hitler at roughly 20 million or so each. At 77 million, the People's Republic of China holds the world record for killing their own non-combatant citizens.

It hurts, but it does not surprise me that a young Obama-loving liberal educated by American academia would wish to honor the 60th anniversary of Mao's bloody regime.

Honoring one of the most repressive and bloodiest regimes in history is the price we pay for living in a free society? Yeah, you're right. I feel a lot freer with Chinese flags flying at the White House and the Empire State Building bathed in red and gold light.

Thomas Jefferson wrote, "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty". I believe he was writing about vigilance against just the kind of despots who have been running China for 60 years. Maybe he was on to something, ya think?

They're a sovereign nation, dork. And, might I remind you that they own most of our debt and are killing us in the world markets. Thanks to Conks.

Don't give us that Thomas Jefferson sh*t, either, Graddy. If you had it your way, this country would be a Christian police state mirror image of Communist China, and you know it. We just couldn't compete, economically.

Fvck off. Learn Chinese before it's too late.

Actually, I remember the "hooplah" over the Chinese flags at the White House and that was a mistake. The White House didn't fly the flags. They were flown across the street.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09 ... outh-lawn/

I figured a link to Faux News dispelling the rumor would give the truth more weight. I mean, these guys would love to have the White House fly the Communist flag. If you read it, the last time the Chinese flag did fly was during Bush's regime, but that's protocol for a visiting Head of State.

Just a liiiiiiittttttle over the top with your faux esotericism, Cap.

The ones who see through your BS don't give a shit, and the rest can't understand your point - if there is one.

Even if someone wanted to understand you, why would they go to all the effort after the way you treat them? At least other cross-dressers attempt to make themselves look pretty. Bad game plan. PPPPPP!

Good point about learning Chinese, though.

Well, I'm a libertarian and agnostic so it's unlikely my way would be a Christian police state.

As for not competing economically, why does everyone miss the obvious about China's ownership of massive amounts of U.S.-issued debt? The Chinese hold so many dollar-denominated securities that they can't allow the dollar to drop very far. That means they have to keep buying the debt and help prop up the dollar in currency markets. In other words, if the U.S. gets a cold, China will get pneumonia.

Abortion rights? Check.
Gay rights? Check.
Reform of marijuana laws? Check.
NAMBLA? Check.
