The Credibility Hemorrhage: A Conk Conundrum....

As if the Republicans’ Teabaggers, Birthers and Screamers weren’t problem enough for its image, now they have the Deathers. The Republican Party is now the embodiment of American fringe politics.

Ever since August 7th when Sarah Palin twittered that her disabled baby would die before the eyes of Obama’s death panels, the Republicans credibility with voters has taken a nose dive (again). At what point does a political party obscure the reality of issues to voters so often, that it can no longer run in elections because it has destroyed all faith and trust in itself?

The Republicans used to rely upon Frank Luntz and Newt Gingrich to help them obfuscate in crafty, disingenuous ways. Now, they flat out lie.

The party’s stars in politics and in their information machine Fox News have hearkened the pending Death Panels who will kill the elderly and Sarah Palin’s baby. Problem: there is no such thing.

Just an update, kids!!!

Credibility problem, huh? Check this out:

Virginia's gone Blue - Obama, Mark Warner, Jim Webb, Tim Kaine, etc.

Virginia's governor race is all about transportation - basically there's no money left beyond bare minimum maintenance. Heck, even the Interstate rest stops have all been closed. The race pits a Donk (Creigh Deeds), who basically promises to raise gas taxes to cover the transportation budget, against a Conk (Bob McDonnell), who will privatize liquor stores, sell off-shore drilling leases, install toll booths on federal-controlled Interstates, and other non-starter ideas.

McDonnell is flat out trouncing Deeds in every single poll...

It's all cycles...

Take health care...one of the proposals was to place a surcharge on what was called "cadillac" plans...

Lots of people supported that...figuring hell, my health care plan doesn't fall into that category...

Now that the dems have put numbers to what is "cadillac"...hundreds and hundreds of union members are finding out that their plans are considered "cadillac"...and are starting to swing back...

It's going to happen more and more...Black church groups that supported Obama are starting to realize he really supports abortion rights....something they don't...they're starting to swing back...

The DONK credibility hemorrhage is well underway...

Cap'n, YOUR credibility is shot when you start quoting two-month old blogs by some unknown crank photographer named David Shankbone! (Yes, THAT David Shankbone!) Cap'n: "Unknown, my azz! I have two of his psychedelic seascapes in my study!"

Did you just make that up?

Black churches have largely been against abortion as long as evangelical white churches. The difference is that I think the black churches aren't the single issue voters than white evangelicals are. Blacks have voted overwhelmingly Democrat for 40 years.

You really believe black church groups are abandoning Obama in any significant numbers or did you just pull that out of your ass?

I think Cap realized long ago that he has no credibility - even with himself - on matters of substance.

He does seem committed his real identity as a nutflake anarchist, however, and in this regard his credentials remain intact. :thumb:

 Yeah that dessicated old mummy is just what we need in the White House. Wrapped in a shawl, sitting in a sunny spot by the window, drooling in his porridge between death rattles, while a crew of nurses adjust the various hoses and IVs protruding from his flaccid carcass...... of course even that would be better than the miserable failure, abject incompetence, bloated government, and record deficits that are the legacy of his predecessor, but still, at the same time....

10 months, and he's accomplished NOTHING. Except record projected deficits over the next 10 years. Hell, he couldn't even get Chicago the Olympics.

Congratulations, Obama. :coffee:

Pretty feeble, at least swing as a pitch in the strike zone. The Olympics and the Nobel Prize don't have any traction except with the haters. Most Illinoisans are thrilled that a money-loser like the Olympics went somewhere else, and the Nobel Prize, well that's just straight up jealousy talkin' right there.

Nothing. Thus, Bush = Obama.

Sucks that there is all this hemorrhaging, and no health plan to help cover the costs of treating it.

Bush did seem to have a lot more brush to clear. I'm not sure what Obama has to clear. Although, I think Chicago's calendar is pretty clear in 2016. :D

What I find kind of confusing is that Obama is pretty much what we expected he'd be... maybe a bit more mamby pamby and less decisive than hoped for but pretty much what was anticipated

However:
We just went through 8 years of a guy pretending to be a conservative and spending like a drunken sailor - a guy talking about fiscal responsibility yet didn't veto a spending bill once...

Bush was a complete socialist - right down to free money checks from the government...

Now we have a guy who is performing "as advertised" and it's somehow shocking... (weird)
