I remember the good ole days on AGS when Ralph used to say that to people, usually after they owned him in an argument.

I'm going to have to call bullsh^t
Birth rates were determined by data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Religiosity was determined by averaging the answers to eight questions that normally show a very conservative (or fundamentalist) christian belief.
Unsurprisingly, the research shows the states with the highest religiosity scores also had the highest teen birth rates. These are also the states that "teach abstinence only" and refuse to teach contraceptive methods.
There's a two-ton elephant that these social scientists are either ignoring or are just too short-sighted to see: the Bible-belt states have larger minority populations and minorities have much higher teen-pregnancy rates than white teens. That's why conservative states with low minority populations like the Dakotas, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska have among the lowest teen-pregnancy rates in the country.

First of all, the results are not bull shit - they are FACTS.
Second, teen pregnancy has more to do with income than race. And you have never been to those states, have you?
Abistinence only is a proven failure. Accept it, and move on.

Correction: Bible-belt states have a larger minority population....and lower education level across the board....& a lower per capita-income tied to that education level...so, it's not so much a minority thing as it is a poor & uneducated thing....

The study the blog cites attempts (fallaciously) to connect religiosity and teen pregnancy rates, not the type of sex education received versus teenage pregnancy rates. There are plenty of better studies you can cite to support comprehensive sex education. The poorly done piece of crap that this blog cites isn't one of them.
And you are right that income is really the underlying factor. But teen pregnancy has been less common in middle class and upper class before comprehensive sex education even existed.

If I had to guess, I'd say teen pregnancy rates in middle class black girls are the same as those of middle class white girls. But even if it isn't true, how does it mean that somehow one race is superior to another? People in different ethnic groups tend to be divided by subcultural lines in America and some social problems will be more prevalent in some ethnic groups than another. Things like child and spousal abuse, certain kinds of mental illness, teenage suicide, and anorexia are more common in whites than blacks. But I guess I'd be racist against whites to even suggest that, right even if you believe they are socially constructed, right?
By the way, in case you were unaware, Hispanics have been the largest non-white ethnic group in American for at least 6 years. What's with substituting "black" with "minority"?

I also loved how this "study" determined what constitutes how "religious" a person is....8 question (what questions) that normally (how determined and by whom) show a conservative
(fundamentalist?????)belief???
This study has got more holes than Appy State's defense. It is automatically determining that anyone who is a conservative is also a fundamentalist?????

8 questions ought to be more than enough to determine such a thing
1. do you consider yourself religious (strong dis/dis/uns/agr/strong agr)
2. how frequently do you attend church (never/occasion/weekly/more)
3. do you consider yourself born-again
4. do you consider yourself an "evangelical"
5. politically are you... (v. lib/lib/mod/con/v. con)
6. in 2008... (mccain/obama/other)
7. in 2004... (bush/kerry) - might not even need this one
here's the thing - you don't need to ask someone for their politics... you can determine it, with 85% accuracy by taking other factors in to account. (namely - income, education, church attendance, geography, gender and age)

Wouldn't miss it for the world. My wife and I and another couple rented a cabin and are leaving early Thursday morning. Making a mini vacation out of it.
