LaVelle Edwards RIP
BYU coaching great died he was 86 turned that school into QB factory early 80s heard this on sports radio WFAN(NY).

On the exact same day Edwards died, we lost one of the best coaches in the history of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. The great Erv Hatzenbuhler, who served Galt Union High School as football HC for more than 40 years, kept the Single Wing alive clear into the '90s, forcing defenses everywhere to come up with a special defense just to play Galt. Needless to say, that didn't work very well for the other team. The Lodi-Galt rivalry during that era was incredible.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

They got into shootout with SMU led by Eric Dickerson.Jim.McMahon threw hail mary td for the win.

Dal...don't let the name fool ya. 
I knew BYU was good under Edwards and remember the chipper, but I just checked out Edwards wiki page and the only losing season he had in 28 years as a HC was his second in 1973 where they finished 5-6. He had 11, 10 plus win seasons too. Amazing success.
