Found a blurb on what I was talking about with LSU putting off Southern Miss:

After they agreed to play North Carolina in 2010 they rescheduled their 2010 game with Southern Miss to 2011 and scheduled Louisiana Monroe. Big time schools do stuff like that. But I really believe that stuff about Boise State not being able to schedule more than one BCS leauge team per year because nobody wants to play them is BS. If they genuinely wanted to try as hard as they could to make every one of their non conference games against BCS league opponents so as to upgrade their schedule strength and maybe get more consideration they'd be playing more BCS league schools than they do. The thing is, they know it's not likely they're going to be going undefeated if they do that because they don't have the athletes to hold up through anything close to even average difficulty of FBS. They've got a talent level comparable to that of Kentucky or Vanderbilt. They can overcome that from time to time but no way they could sustain that on a week to week basis.
