Sac State win BSC Directors Cup

Post by SDHornet »

Ok so the title of the thread is misleading and probably incorrect, but we finished with the most points out of the BSC for the Directors Cup. 8-)
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- After a successful 2010-11 campaign, the Sacramento State athletics program was ranked ahead of 226 Div. I institutions in the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup final standings.

Of the 345 Div. I athletic institutions, Sacramento State placed 119th, the highest finish among the nine Big Sky Conference schools. The placing stamps an academic year which saw the Hornets account for eight conference championships while also winning the Big Sky Conference’s all-sports points title.

The Directors’ Cup ranks the nation’s athletic programs based on each institution’s finish in up to 20 sports, and is presented annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

The Hornets’ 142.50 total points in the standings were the third highest in the California State University system, trailing only San Diego State and Fresno State.

This year marks the first time the Hornets finished ahead of every other Big Sky institution in the final standings. In addition, the finish is the second highest garnered by Sacramento State as the program finished 115th in 2007-08.

So let's just get this straight.

The President's Cup is best overall academic performance by student-athletes, while the Director's Cup is best athletic performance on the field/court?

The Sterling Savings Bank Presidents’ Cup reinforces the Big Sky’s dedication to the academic side of the student-athlete experience. Overall athletic success is combined with team grade point averages, graduation rates, and All-Conference performers with grade point averages of at least 3.0 to determine the winner
