Pitt & Syracuse start the process to jump ship on the Big East...now UConn is picking up speed on a possible similar move...
UConn president Susan Herbst is aggressively pursuing membership in the ACC to become the 15th or 16th member institution in the conference, according to a source with direct knowledge of UConn's situation.
According to the source, Herbst was having conversations recently but in light of Pittsburgh's and Syracuse's defections from the Big East, the talks have accelerated in the last 48 hours.
And while football seems to be the prime factor, the basketball powers of the ACC are supporting this move...
Both Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and North Carolina coach Roy Williams have told ESPN.com that they would endorse the ACC expanding to 16 teams comprised of two eight-team divisions.

Being a born and raised a UConn fan, I hope this happens. UConn is a school with some very rich athletic tradition and if they are stuck in the Big East that will severely hurt their school and the athletic department. I think they fit now geographically with Boston College who is obviously already an existing member and now Pitt and 'Cuse. They will be able to form a pretty nice north division if they decide to go north/south instead of coastal/Atlantic.
