Great game by the Seawolves!!Seawolf97 wrote:StonyBrook improved to 47-11 tonight knocking off the Miami Hurricanes 10-2. Great hitting (11) and superb pitching took the wind out of the Hurricanes. The Seawolves now move to the winners bracket and face UCF Saturday.

Re: FCS Baseball 2012
LSU won game 1 and that's who I was pulling for but believe me when I say that everybody associated with LSU baseball knows they were VERY fortunate to get that win. I was listening to them interviewing an ex LSU player and he was saying Stony Brook is the best hitting team in terms of how "in control" they are that he's seen LSU play all year. Everybody's saying Stony Brook is really, really good. They noted that Stony Brook had more players drafted than LSU did. Lots of talk yesterday before the rain delay about how fortunate LSU was that the Stony Brook guy didn't make the catch on the foul ball right before the guy at bat hit a home run to tie it in the bottom of the 9th. I didn't see it but that was the talk on the radio. The LSU guy calling the game talked about what a great game it was and how each team "refused to lose." The talk today is that it's one of the top 5 if not THE top NCAA tournament game in LSU history.
No shortage of respect for Stony Brook right now in Baton Rouge.
Now game 2 with each team throwing their ace.
Speaking of that LSU took a huge chance by bringing their ace...the first pitcher selected in the major league draft...out to pitch the top of the 12th. If he'd have had to go very far they'd have lost him for the series. It would've been especially bad if they lost because then they'd have to win two without their ace and Stony Brook still had theirs. But he got them 3 up 3 down in the top of the 12th then LSU came through and scored a run to win so they can use him to go opposite Stony Brook's ace in Game 2.
What a game. Great game to listen to on the radio as I did driving back from a long trip yesterday. I'm not even a baseball fan but I love the NCAA baseball playoffs. Good stuff. And this was one of the best. LSU winning was a miracle. Stony Brook dominated as far as hitting the ball but they kept stranding runners. It was like LSU was the underdog having to scratch and claw to stay in the game and finally squeak it out. It was like you always felt the dam was about to break and Stony Brook was going to run away with it but it never happened.

Re: FCS Baseball 2012
Baton Rouge series tied now. Stonybrook topped the Tigers 3-1 this afternoon on dominating pitching and great defense. Momentum has swung to the Seawolves after that heartbreaking loss this morning to finish game one 5-4 on a bottom of the 12th walkoff single. This may never happen again for 25 years but Stonybrook Baseball is approaching more than just a dream season. Stay tuned Sunday

Stony Brook is one misplay of a foul ball from being in the CWS already. LSU better eat its Wheaties tomorrow morning because they've been thoroughly outplayed so far.
