Who is SW TX St?
Who is SW Louisiana?

You should know by now that I'm old school. I did botch that one line, though. That should be NE Louisiana.
You didn't notice that I leave the "State" on some schools that have allegedly dropped that? I even left the old SW on TX State. I didn't think you were one of those young fans who think that Roger Staubach sucks simply because he played before they were born and so they've never heard of him....

Arguably the best Hail Mary outcome on film since Doug Flutie. Glad we were on the good side of it.
Don’t think it tops Colorado/Michigan 1994. And there’s been a few others since the below was written 3 years ago. At least the 2nd one this season already- Holy Cross had one to upset Buffalo. I’m sure the App State one would make an updated top 10 Hail Mary’s of college football history list. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-fo ... u4hkply9r6
Congrats on the win though. I’m happy ASU pulled it off- would even more dofficult for JMU to to keep it somewhat close if ASU was coming off of a loss…
Soft sell your team all you like, JMU has a good chance to win. Being new doesn't necessarily equate with losing in the SBC. Georgia Southern won the conference in the first season after the move. I hope App wins, because 3-1 is as good a start as I could have hoped for.

-The SBC is much stronger than it was back in 2013.
-GSU was 2 seasons removed from their moveup announcement, JMU (because 1st team since Marshall to skip that transition yr) is only 1 season since announcing. Since didn’t announce until last Nov when most HS guys were already committed, we don’t have an FBS recruit class.
The portal thing is probably a wash. JMU lost 3 top would be returning players to P5s (2 FCS AAs, 2 starting at their respective P5s). Heck, Antwane Wells (SC) was leading the SEC in receiving yds the 1st 2 weeks before he got a goose egg in SC’s beatdown vs UGA. But JMU also gained FBS transfers that under the old rules that maybe would have had to sit out a season since they were lateral transfers, or maybe not with JMU being a move up. Bottom line the transfers brought in (including QB) probably make up for those 3 lost..

I won't even try to address the portal, but you make a good point about not being able to recruit a class before the move. Marshall is probably a better comparison. They won the MAC in their first year. I think top tier FCS programs have an easier transition to G5 than their fans might anticipate. Y'all are/were that. You can compete right now. I just hope you peak after this Saturday.
MTSU was a C-USA bowl team last yr. JMU lost to transfer their AA WR (starting USC), AA LB (2 deep Texas), and starting corner (started for WVU last night), and JMU has zero FBS recruit classes. But this FBS thing isn’t that hard.
Congrats, you beat one of the worst teams in the worst conference.

Thanks. The last 3 JMU/App State games have been crazy thrillers.
-2007 round of 16: ASU 28, JMU 27. JMU has ball 1st and goal on ASU 9 and fumbles, ASU recovers with under 20 seconds left. An miracle on the mountain for ASU. ASU goes on to win the NC.
-2008 #1 ASU @ #5 JMU. ASU goes up 21-0 at the half. 2nd half JMU scores 35 unanswered and holds on in a 35-32 thriller.
-Yesterday: ASU goes up 28-3 with 6+ min left in the 2nd qtr. JMU then scores 32 unanswered to win 32-28.

Playing in the rain and wind from the remants of Ian, early 3rd qtr it was JMU up 26-0, with total yardage JMU 335, TX St 45.
3:25 left in the game, up 40-7, JMU put their 3rd string defense in, TX St kept their starters in, drove down the field amd scored a TD on the last play of the game (no PAT attempted).

I expect they're sharpening the pitchforks over at Yosefs Cabin about now. The bowl streak may end this year.
Meanwhile CCU and JMU keep rolling, and GSU (Southern) loses to GSU (State) again.

Congrats to GSU. I was worried about this game being a 2nd straight road game + all the media attention on JMU about being ranked.
From what I gathered (only was able to listen to 1st 2 1/2 quarters + watch the 4th quarter) for the most part neither defense could stop the other offense unless the offense turned it over.
JMU 675 yds offense (207 rushing, 468 passing).
GSU 590 yds offense (12 rushing, 578 passing).
Difference was JMU turned it over 4 times + GSU blocked JMU punt for TD. GSU only turned it over once.
