Dartmouth claims the first spot in the NCAA Tournament with a 10-0 shutout of Cornell.
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

JMU is doing alright on a "rebuilding year." Currently #4 in the CAA at 28-21 and has been playing pretty decent down the stretch. We'll see how they do in the CAA tourney.

UGA is choking down the stretch... they are on a seven game losing streak, 6 of which are to SEC opponents. Lost to unranked Vanderbilt tonight... If they wrap up the rest of these games, they should definitely be in the playoffs but I don't know if they will do well in the SEC tourney or College World Series. I've kind of been waiting for the other shoe to drop all season.

WKU (36 - 12) (20 - 5) wins their 8th straight game as they beat Louisiana-Lafayette 6 - 3. This is the Toppers 20th SBC victory and 36th overall. They pick up 1/2 game over Middle Tennessee since the Blue Raiders were idle yesterday. If they win either today or tomorrow's game this will be their 1st ever series victory in Lafayette since joining the Sun Belt in 1983. They are only (5 - 17) in Lafayette since 1995.

WKU (37 - 13) (21 - 6) wins on Sat for winning the series against Louisiana-Lafayette. It is the 1st time since WKU's inception in the conference (1983) that WKU was won a series at Louisiana-Lafayette. WKU wins 4 - 2 on Sat. and lost 5 - 6 yesterday. WKU has a solid two game lead in the conference. :D

WKU has 4 of the biggest games of the season to end the regular season.

Today: vs. Louisville for this is WKU's final home game of the season. The battle of the Top 2 teams in the state of Kentucky going for bragging rights.
Thursday - Saturday @ Middle Tennessee, this series will determine WKU's seeding in the upcoming SBC tournament. All that the Toppers need to do is win 1 of the 3 games and they will clinch their 1st SBC regular season championship and #1 seed! Coming into this week WKU has a 2 game lead on MTSU. MTSU has to win at least two games to have a chance at a #1 seed. WKU can possibly reach 40 wins if they can defeat Louisville and win 2 of the 3 games against MTSU.

This is the biggest week of the Toppers season right here!

WKU (37 - 14) loses their home finale to #23 Louisville 10 - 2. WKU breaks the all-time home winning percentage at .900 (27 - 3) and was one win shy of the all-time number of home wins (28). Next up is the biggest SBC series of the season as they take on MTSU in Murfreesboro starting Thursday. 2,267 people attended the game. That is a season high for WKU and the 2nd highest of all-time behind 3,057 in attendance for the Kentucky game on 4/23/08. Nick Denes Field's capacity is only 1,500!

JMU lost the weekend series to W&M and followed it up with a midweek win against George Washington and a loss last night to Longwood. JMU's bullpen has looked shakey all year... at least to me... they seem to get off to good leads (7-0 against UD for example) and then the bullpen manages to blow the game. Such as last night, JMU was up 6-4 in the bottom of the 8th and the bullpen allowed 5 runs to GWU. JMU drops to 29-22. If JMU plays well against George Mason this weekend, they have the potential to move up to second in the CAA... George Mason however is currently #1 in the CAA with an overall record of 38-9... we'll see how this goes.

UGA was on an 8 game losing streak, lost the weekend series to Vanderbilt 2-1 and managed to scrape out a victory on Sunday to break their losing streak. #15 UGA did beat #7 GT last night 7-5 at Turner Field in ATL (a huge victory for the dogs to beat a ranked team considering the schneid they were on). Lyle Allen hit a two run single in the top of the 9th to break the tie and win the game. Dawgs move to 35-17. UGA was in the race to win the SEC until the lost the last 5 of 6 games to SEC opponents... they will finish Second in the SEC East and I think 5th overall in the SEC.

WKU (37 - 15) (21 - 7) lost to Middle Tennessee (37 - 15) (20 - 8) yesterday 10 - 4, they still hold a 1 game lead in the conference. WKU needs to win either tonight's game or tomorrow's game to clinch the SBC regular season title.

Bobcats finish season 38-14. A loss on Tuesday and a split series this weekend may have cost Texas St a #2 seed in the tourney. Two rainout games this year hurt.

UGA seems to have gotten the wheels back on on their truck and have won their first two games in the SEC tournament putting them at the top of the winners bracket and a day off to rest up for Saturdays games.

Matt Ceroni hit a grand slam on Wednesday to bring the dogs up 4-1 over SEC champ Ole Miss and McVeryl's former pitcher Justin Grimm pitched an amazing game only letting up one run... he has been by far the best pitcher on the UGA staff this year.

Last night UGA beat the Arkansas Razorbacks 2-1 on a walk off single in the bottom of the tenths. Georgia's other Ace pitcher Trevor Holder pitched 8 shutout innings and the dogs were up 1-0 going into the ninth.
