If I played for Alabama I would be soooooooo proud of beating a cold, off the bench, freshman QB with barely any college game experience. Yep, real proud.

So McCoy is injured more than initially reported...no feeling in the arm? Not good.

Wah. If Texas had pulled it's collective head out of it's ass it could have won this game.clenz wrote:running the score up...real fucking classy

Re: MNC Game: Texas vs Alabama
what are they supposed to do? not play? if he's wearing a Texas uniform and on scholarship and just so happened to be the high school player of the year, I'm sure he qualifies as part of the team.CatMom wrote:If I played for Alabama I would be soooooooo proud of beating a cold, off the bench, freshman QB with barely any college game experience. Yeah, like they had a choiceCatMom wrote:If I played for Alabama I would be soooooooo proud of beating a cold, off the bench, freshman QB with barely any college game experience. Yep, real proud.
What are they supposed to do, walk off the field in protest and demand that the game be postponed until he is healthy enough to play again?

When you're gifted the ball inside the 5 yard line, what do you want them to do Chaz? Take a Knee? Give the ball back to Texas? As for the last drive, Texas still had two time outs so Bama had to run the ball. It's not Bama's fault Texas gave them the ball on the 27 yard line and then let Bama start off the drive with a 17 yard run with a 5 yard Texas penalty added on the end. Leaving Bama again, inside the 5 yard line. Had they decided to take a knee, Texas would have used their time outs and gotten the ball back. Seeing the crazy ending to the Auburn/Northwestern game and the way the Texas kicker "banked" and onside kick off of the Bama player... I wouldn't give them the ball back.
[sarcasm on] If the Bama players had any class, they would have given the ball back to Texas and then Ingram and Richardson would carry McCoy down the field so that he could score a touchdown in the NC game. [sarcasm off]

I don't think they were running up the score. That said, I'd rather have a 9 point lead and the ability to run the clock out than a 16 point lead and have to kick off. If I were coaching the winning team in that situation I run the clock out and win by 9. If I were coaching the losing team in that situation I probably tell my players to give up the score just to get the ball back.

Re: MNC Game: Texas vs Alabama
I just got back on the htread after taking a very quick peak at about 7 AM my time today. I really haven't read what people said to my morning response and I won't go into any long details of why I feel the way I do. This is my last post on this particular thread and I will explain why below:
1 - If you read my early posts - I was going for Alabama.
2 - win with class, no matter what. They could have run the clock down some and taken a FG. Easily done.
3 - the chest pumping got old and was unnecessary. I don't recaLL Villanova's players acting like complete morons after the game, either.
4 - I don't care what any of you said to me or how any of you respond to this. A woman of 40 who has been on my Colin Firth Forum for well over 2 years, passed away this morning. Her death was due to kidney and liver failure. She got this way because about 15 months ago some idiot intern injected something into her liver that was intended to be injected into her arm. Right now, nothing anyone posts will phase me one iota. I'm too upset over this.

a) Kicking a FG is actually considered LESS classy than just running a play.CatMom wrote:I just got back on the htread after taking a very quick peak at about 7 AM my time today. I didn't give a shite who won the game.clenz wrote:running the score up...real fucking classy
And I'd hardly call that "running up the score".
It's not like they were passing the ball down field or anything.
They were chewing up the clock with running plays.
They just managed to score on them.
Besides, anyone complaining about someone "running up the score" when they are up by less than 10 points is just being whiny.
