I'am pulling for a MAJOR UPSET if Montclair St (NJ)gets into the D3 playoffs and manages to make it that far to the national title game!!!!!!!!93henfan wrote:Actually, this Hen fan and native Delawarean is pulling for Dover's own Wesley College.SuperHornet wrote:Yeah, traditional D-III powers Mount Union and WI-Whitewater are both in at 10-0. I'm shocked ever year at how many teams get in with undefeated records in D-III.
But what might be more of interest (particularly for our Hen fans) is this intriguing matchup in the lower left corner of the bracket:
Norwich (7-3) @ Delaware Valley (10-0).
Are these guys "for real?" I'd really like to see someone other than Whitewater (upper left corner of the bracket) take on Mount Union (lower right) in the finals....![]()
Wesley lost to WI-Whitewater in the semis last year and Mt Union in the semis in 2009.

If next week's pairings look weird, they'll probably be corrected tomorrow. I was going off the pattern established in the first round, but the Centre game review at d3football.com indicates that the NCAA will publish site and time tomorrow, so weird abnormalities like #2 Mount Union playing on the road in the Sweet 16 will likely be corrected at that time.

St. Thomas will win the title this year. Saw them play against my alma mater in September. That team is fucking stacked. They've got a few D-I dropdowns, including the punter from Iowa State and 2 linebackers from Minnesota.
St. Thomas is making the jump to D-II and aiming at FCS in the next decade. It will happen, their school is growing like wildfire.

I have a hard time believing that a group of upstarts can get past Mount Union. Larry Kehres is one of the best football coaches in the history of the game, and he can recruit D-III like anyone's business.

Yep...a lot of D3 schools around here....which is why they never have to play D2 or NAIA teams to fill their schedule....thus never resulting in games that don't count towards their record.93henfan wrote:There's a whole lot of Midwest Bias going on in D-III football.

Some undefeates went down in this week's Sweet 16. Interesting side note is that the St. John Fisher Cardinals move on after knocking off a previously unbeated team for the second week in a row, this time with a new QB since the original starter was injured last week.

Sweet! Two Delmarva teams in the quarters. Go Salisbury and Wesley (though both are making brutal road trips and I wouldn't bet on either this week)!

The shitty part is that when Whitewater and St. Thomas play in 2 weeks the game will be in Wisconsin. Yeah I get they won the title last year, but they are not the same team as last year and their conference is a lot weaker than last season.

You know Mt U and WI-W are always going to be #1/#2 when they're 11-0. Until one of them stops making it to the championship game anyway...Willie wrote:The shitty part is that when Whitewater and St. Thomas play in 2 weeks the game will be in Wisconsin. Whitewater vs St. Thomas next weekend...willing to say that there won't be a repeat national champion this year.
Interesting fact, 3 of the remaining 4 schools are purple, black and silver.

Today's Elite Eight:
UW-Whitewater 34, Salisbury (11-2) 14
St. Thomas 45, St. John Fisher (10-3) 10
Wesley 27, Mary Hardin-Baylor (12-1) 24
Mt. Union 20, Wabash (12-1) 8
Shocked that MHB got upset. That means that TWO undefeated teams went down today, but one was a given since the Mt. Union-Wabash matchup featured two teams without a loss before kickoff.
Next Week's Final Four (Locations Not Official):
St. Thomas (13-0) @ UW-Whitewater (13-0)
Wesley (12-1) @ Mt. Union (13-0)

Wesley making Delaware proud.
Very tall order at Mt U, but there's nothing to lose and they've been this far before, so might as well play loose.

Check out the Massey predictions:
http://masseyratings.com/pred.php?s=107811&sub=&days=7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They have Mount Union as an underdog at home in a playoff semifinal. Kind of not TOO shocking because Mount Union has had some close games this year. Not as overwhelmingly dominant as usual. But still shocking. Mount Union has lost at home in at least one playoff semifinal before. I remember Mary Hardin Baylor doing it a few years back. But it hasn't been done often.
