Hey I may be Irish, I may be Catholic but I've never liked Notre Dame. However, you have to give them credit this year, they played one of the best schedules in college football & ran the table, they deserve to be in the NC game.

Nice comparison. There are dozens of college games every Saturday, not all of them are televised. There are at most 16 NFL games each weekend, all of which are televised.

Perhaps people hate Notre Dame because their fans are arrogant enough to compare them to the NFL.

I'd say that 80-90% of the "talk" of ND is from fans that hate them. I'd also say that in general SEC fans are FAR more intolerable than ND fans.

BTW, perhaps people hate them because they don't understand analogies.

I don't think they beat Alabama

If I were betting and had to put my money down straight up I'd bet on Alabama to win. But Alabama has only played two top 10 or 15 caliber teams this year and the Tide should have lost both games. Both LSU and Texas A&M put up over 400 yards on them and LSU is not a great offense. Georgia is a great offense and Georgia's got a top flight quarterback. The Bulldogs also have a very big, physical, and good defensive line. And the game is in Atlanta. It'll basically be a home game for Georgia.

Like I said if I had to put my money down it'd be Alabama but I would not be at all surprised to see Georgia win.

1) Alabama beat LSU--Alabama only has one loss (aTm).
2) Whichever team wins the SEC will be favored in the BCS Championship game.
3) If I'm ND, I prefer to play Alabama as Georgia may be more talented and definitely has a better passing game.
4) Giving Saban a month to prepare is usually a bad thing, but no one is giving Brian Kelly much credit. The guy has won everywhere he has been (D-II, non-AQ FBS, BCS, ND), and he could just be the coach to end the SEC's reign.

I'm glad ND won, I want to watch the BCS Championship game, but would not watch another all-SEC matchup. It pains me, but I'll be pulling for ND regardless of which SEC team they play. I am a big Brian Kelly fan, being following him since his days at Grand Valley State.

This. The SEC has a good product and I would rather them be on TV everywhere than one of the many crappy conferences.

Nothing like a Kentucky-Ole Miss game to get me pumped up! I'd rather watch Arizona-Arizona State or Kansas State-Oklahoma State than that type of gold-plated turd game from the SEC.

At least in terms of who I'd rather watch. I'm sick of the fawning CBS gives to the SEC. In my mind, EWU vs. Delaware is a MUCH better game than Florida-Georgia....

The first part is probably true. I know a guy with no Irish heritage and is Presbyterian, but is a ND football fan (he's also a Duke basketball fan). I told him he just needed to do society a favor and off himself.

I've known plenty of Irish people who don't like them and I don't have a shred or Irish heritage, but you are correct that they have more national bandwagoners than any other school... that's why they have a deal with NBC and the BCS.

Given the system they do. But though they've played a tough schedule in terms of average strength I don't know if they've played any true top 10 caliber team. Maybe Stanford. Stanford is ranked 8th in the BCS standings if I saw right just now. But I don't know if I think Stanford is really a top 10 caliber team in spite of them upsetting Oregon (which I do think is a top 10 caliber team). Close.

But we'll see. They'll definitely get a top 10 caliber team when they play in the BCS championship game.

In terms of average strength, which seems the best way to compare the teams based on their resume, ND's schedule was more difficult than both Alabama's and Georgia's--not that any SEC fan would admit such a thing.
