Yup.Chizzang wrote:You've never watched Oregon obviously... They play lay back and strip defenseJohnStOnge wrote:I think they had a shot but not with five turnovers like that. Basically looks to me like a game in which both defenses had difficulty stopping the other team's offenses. With one exception every time Florida State turned it over it was a drive stopping turnover when they were moving the football. When you do that in a game like this one you take away your chance to get points and give the ball back to the other offense when your defense can't stop them. So it's kind of like spotting the opponent 7 every time it happens. When it happens five times that adds up.
Quack.
Oregon is twice the team Florida State is

Look, I was pulling for Oregon. And I have watched them play before But you're probably going to see more NFL players come from the Florida State team that played today than you're going to see from the Oregon team that played today. You've never watched Oregon obviously... I'm glad Oregon won. And they may have won even if the giveaway/takeaway stat was even. But if you're in a game like that and you turn it over FIVE times you have NO shot.
What the fuck does "NFL players coming from the program" have to do with it?JohnStOnge wrote:Look, I was pulling for Oregon. You mean the "no means no," sung to the tune of that stupid Semihole war chant? I thought it was great!clenz wrote:That's funny as ****...especially the way FSU left the field after the gameGrizalltheway wrote: Agreed. I'm an Oregon fan and there's no need for that ****. Nah. I knew what game it was. I just didn't watch it, except the little bit I saw when I was at dinner.93henfan wrote:Not sure if serious.Vidav wrote:What game are you guys talking about?

If it was all about having better talent then SHSU would be playing in the NC game next week....what with all their FBS drop downs on their roster.clenz wrote:What the fuck does "NFL players coming from the program" have to do with it?JohnStOnge wrote:

They can have all the talent in the world, but the fact is they were exposed all year but played in an ACC against a bunch of slap dick teams that folded like a cheap lawn chair late in games.
Oregon told Florida State to hold their ankles because it's going to happen if they want it or not....or what Jameis does to co-eds.

I'm still trying to figure out how any top program loses to anybody by 39 points...!!!
17 points is a lot of points to lose by - but 39 is ridiculous - BEAT DOWN

I'm not saying FSU's defense looked good. Obviously it didn't. But that doesn't change the fact that Oregon's defense didn't look real good either.Oregon's defense played a huge role in most of those turnovers. It really did.
Oregon's defense ranked 28th in FBS scoring defense, well ahead of FSU's. It really did.

The turnover thing? It's always like that. If you're on the winning side of that you say "we created the turnovers." If you're on the losing side you say, "we gave the ball away." Teams are ALWAYS raking at the ball and such. It's still a crap shoot. Sometimes that works out and the other team turns the ball over pretty much. Sometimes ti doesn't.
What I think I saw in that game is that the cliche about Oregon being "soft" on defense so that a good physical smash mouth type of offense would give them serious problems is probably true. In one way I kind of wish Alabama would've beaten Ohio State because I think that if they were playing Alabama and Alabama just decided to run the ball at them with Yeldon and Henry they'd get pushed around real bad and I'd be able to say, "See, I told you so."
But not quite. I really do like seeing Alabama get beat; especially by a Big 10 team. I can forego the greater potential for a "See, I told you so" moment.

Well, sometimes people need to have things explained to them. Like people who don't understand the effect a spate of turnovers like Florida State had in that game has and that having something like that happen for the team you're pulling for...yes...involves some luck. You are spending quite a bit of time explaining things...

I don't know about ALL that but I do feel kind of vindicated with respect to saying that if you were paying attention when Oregon played Florida State that you could see that their defense had serious problems in stopping a power running game. Ohio State has kind of an unconventional power running game. But they still showed a power running game. And it worked. Oregon's defensive front got owned by Ohio State's offensive line.Cluck U wrote:Speaking of EPIC BEAT DOWNS.21 straight points to run away with the title.

OSU won, despite 4 TOS. Oregon's "lay back and strip" defense got laid down and beaten badly.
246 yards...did anyone on Oregon's defense know that Mr. Elliot was on the field? Was he wearing a cloaking device? Did he carry a hammer and just thump people who whiffed at the wind?
Oregon turned out to be another EWU.

Kind of going afield but actually North Dakota State apparently manages a high talent level for a FCS school. If you go to the ESPN NFL players by school thing at http://espn.go.com/nfl/college/_/letter/n" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; you'll see that North Dakota State has six players on NFL rosters right now. That's a lot for a FCS school. Sam Houston State, as another example, has 1 player on an NFL roster right now.f it was all about having better talent then SHSU would be playing in the NC game next week....what with all their FBS drop downs on their roster.
