GEORGIA STATE BASEBALL TEAM UPSETS 3RD-RANKED GEORGIA TECH 10-1
ATLANTA - Led by a trio of home runs, the Georgia State baseball team earned a 10-1 upset win over #3 Georgia Tech on Tuesday night at Russ Chandler Stadium. The win over the third ranked Yellow Jackets was the highest ranked opponent that the Panthers have defeated in the history of the program.
“We look at every game as a big game and a big win,” commented head coach Greg Frady. “To come over here to Georgia Tech and get a win like this against a great organization and such a well run club is a special thing. Tonight was also the first night that we played on television in a number of years, so that just adds to an already great evening of baseball for our team.”

Texas State beat SFA 7-4 on Friday and run ruled them today 10-0. Looking for the sweep tomorrow.

Re: NCAA baseball
Bryant gets a 9-3 win over Maine and is now 20-7 on the season. Play Brown Thursday then have a weekend trip to play NJIT and NYIT.

Re: NCAA baseball
Bryant ranked #3 by NEIBA. It ranks all New England teams and is voted on by all New England coaches.
#1 Boston College
#2 Rhode Island
#3 Bryant
Bryant is 2-0 vs #1 and #2 and has 2 first place votes. They are 1 point behind URI and 3 points behind BC for #1 in the region.

Re: NCAA baseball
Hopefully they keep it up and make some news for NCAA rankings. I loved how Bryant was ranked #20 in the USILA poll and ranked #22 in another lacrosse poll.

Re: NCAA baseball
JMU baseball seems to be sliding into the tank... lost a game to Virginia Tech yesterday 4-0, which was our 5th loss in the past 6 games. Dropped to 15-13.
#1 UGA beat #22 Clemson yesterday 6-5. This brings their record to 23-3. UGA is looking sick this year, I've been to as many games as I can this year. A couple weekends ago vs Miss St, UGA set an attendance record with 12K+ fans showing up for the weekend series. This weekend vs LSU is already sold out, good thing they reserve seats for students, and I'm technically a student... even though I don't have classes or get grades anymore.
1B - Rich Poythress: 38 R, 44H, 13HR, 48RBI, .918 SLG%, 0.449 BA.
He's been named the Collegiate Baseball Writers National Hitter of the Week. He went 8-13 with 5 HRs in 4 games last week and is ranked in the Top three in 9 offensive stats in the SEC. Pretty disgusting.

We have a lot of seniors so I think it will be a one year recognition. It helps that these seniors played with wooden bats for the past 3 years. Northeast-10 rule. So going to aluminum bats has made a huge difference in that jump to DI.

Pretty accurate, UGA hasn't hit the heart of their schedule yet... well it started this mid week with Clemson and really begins this weekend when they play LSU. The first 13-14 games UGA played were cake, conference play will be more difficult. Not to mention the rain out of the GT mini series.

Re: NCAA baseball
UGA scores three runs in the Top of the 9th to come back and beat Clemson 4-2 tonight... UGA now 24-3

Re: NCAA baseball
My first post in a while...
I wonder why Harvard can't beat Holy Cross in baseball... the Crusaders came from behind to win 12-11 at home.
Hope we'll win in the Ivies and the Beanpot.
(Note: Even though we lost to majority of the teams we played in the South, it brings an experience that many of the players may never get to experience again.)

All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.
