Duck-farts, Oregon looked like shit in the Rose bowell, and Boise cornholed them to torn tissue status in the season opener.

That one dude had a great right hook after the game, I have to admit, but the PAC 10 had no quality and less class than the WAC this year, you have to admit.

Boise belongs in the Pasadena game over smelly Texas. Of course, the REAL D-I champions have already been decided....

I'm stunned Boise was able to hold them to 10 points. This is the same team that had scored not LOWER than 38 since their 20-17 victory over Air Force on 10/10.

Top to bottom there is no way the WAC even holds a candle to the Pac 10, and other than Boise State that has been proven year after year after year - even when the last place Pac 10 team gave the Broncos a 2 TD beatdown in 2007 (Washington).

And as for the MWC - even when Masoli was at his worst point of the season he had absolutely no problem in ending Utah's little win streak. :coffee:

Wow DDG, do you realize how much you sound like a CAA fan right now? I think the point was that the best from the PAC got beat by the best from the WAC. As far as Utah goes why shouldn't the PAC 10 champ beat them? They were not the WAC champ so that would seem to be easier pickings.

Jesus H. How many times must I tell people on this board. I'm a Buckeyes fan because my aunt lives in Columbus and has since I was born. And why you would criticize people for their choice of teams is fucking beyond me.

And way to make fun of someone for liking D-III football. WTF is wrong with that? At least I can say I played college football and started on varsity all four years. Wrong fucking argument to try to start my man.

And P.S....my cousin plays soccer for Oregon and I still don't like the fucking ducks.

My thoughts exactly. :?

What was the deal with TCU uniforms? I never got a chance to see them play during the season. I don't know what was more distracting, trying to figure out what was going on with the pants changing color or the back of the helmet changing color. Are those their everyday uniforms or something special for the bowl?

What? Utah beating Cal's ass and BYU working over allegely Rose-Bowl bound Oregon State (sucks! sucks! sucks!) isn't enough for you?

Pac 10 goes 1-5 (against apparently some questionable quality opposition) and you question the MWC TALENT?

They wore those uniforms once against utah (I think). They were apart of the deal nike had with a few other teams.

Boise belongs in the Pasadena game over smelly Texas.
No way, with a system that only takes two, a rational system could put a team that played Boise State's schedule into the championship game. As I've typed before on some other forum, there's a huge difference between playing one BCS league team in a season...even a conference champion...and playing a BCS level schedule. I like to use East Carolina from last year as an example.

The Pirates opened the 2008 season by beating eventual ACC champ Virginia Tech. Then they beat West Virginia, which finished 9-4, 24-3. That's a more impressive start than Boise State got this year by beating Oregon. Had they then embarked on a cakewalk schedule the rest of the regular season way like Boise State did, who knows? Especially if they got to play another mid major in a BCS bowl.

But, instead, they got one more win over Tulane then had to play another BCS league school (North Carolina State). NC State wasn't as good as Virginia Tech or West Virginia but they knocked ECU off. The next week they lost again...to a Houston team that was probably better than anybody Boise State played in 2009 after Oregon. Then it was another BCS league team.

If Boise State plays a non conference schedule like East Carolina did last year, with all four games against BCS league teams ranging from medium to good (no real stinkers) and go undefeated, then maybe they can talk about being considered for the BCS title game. But, to me, a team wouldn't have to be top 2, top 5, or even top 10 in caliber to have a decent shot at going undefeated against the schedule Boise State played. There's just no way going undefeated against that schedule establishes a team as being among the elite.

On the TCU team Boise State beat: I wondered about the Horned Frogs because I hadn't seen them and they also played a schedule a lot of BCS league teams wouldn've had a great shot at going undefeated against. Take Georgia Tech. People made a big deal about TCU beating Clemson and Virginia. Well, Georgia Tech beat Virginia too and beat Clemson twice. Suppose Georgia Tech had played the same schedule?

It was tougher than Boise State's for sure. Utah would've been a test and maybe BYU. But they certainly would've had a lot better shot at going unbeaten against TCU's schedule than they had against the one they played.

Just to give you some sort of gauge: By Sagarin's system Georgia Tech's schedule as of the end of the pre-bowl season was rated 22nd. TCU's was rated 82nd and Boise State's was rated 98th. There are a tad over 60 BCS league teams. How many would have a good shot at going unbeaten against the 82nd or especially the 98th rated schedule? A lot, I think. You just can't legitimately put a lot of stock in going undefeated against those kinds of slates; not when you're talking about somebody deserving to be in a national championship game.

Catch-22 in that as well, John. A lot of the big guys WON'T play Boise, even one-off road games for Boise, let alone a home and home.

Boise has tried to upgrade their OOC schedule, but the big guys won't play along.

Yes I've heard that spin and I don't buy it. Other "mid major" schools have shown they are dangerous and they can do it. As noted East Carolina beat the ACC champ as well as 9-4 West Virginia last year. They've routinely beaten BCS league schools. Yet East Carolina had West Virginia, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech scheduled this year. Next year they are playing at Virginia Tech and at North Carolina in consecutive games. Then in 2011 they're playing Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

The entire basis of this "they won't play Boise State" thing is Boise State making that claim. Don't get me wrong. There are times when BCS league schools make adjustments to schedules to avoid "overloading." Like my understanding is that one reason McNeese is playing LSU next year is that LSU wanted to put off playing Southern Mississippi due to already having North Carolina and West Virginia on the non conference slate. Or maybe it was Louisiana Monroe they scheduled for that reason. In any case they do do that and that's nothing new nor is it limited to any particular potentially dangerous "mid major" school.

But I think Boise State could schedule three or sometimes four BCS league opponents per year if it wanted to; especially if it really IS willling to do so without return games. I think they don't want to because they've made their name by running up sparkling records against very weak schedules, it's worked for them, and they know it.
