That depends, bandl. Back in the pre-specialization days, that might be true. Today? Not so much. Very few place kickers do anything other than kick the ball and look stupid if they have to "try" to make a tackle. Punters have to be able to handle (sometimes bad) snaps and often hold for the kickers (though I much prefer quarterbacks for that duty). Sometimes, punters are called upon to run or pass. And even for the act of punting, the options are much more than for place kickers, who might have to choose between an angled or straight onside or a squib kickoff. Punters have to know when to boom it, kick to the corner, pooch it, or even pull the surprise fake. Sometimes, punters are even called on to kick long field goals if the normally accurate place kicker has a limited range. And punters are rarely the "flakes" that place kickers might be. Heck, Ray Guy was the emergency quarterback for the Raiders. The Cowboys punter at one time was a quarterback also. The Bengals had a punter who was also a wide receiver. Outside of George Blanda and Bob Waterfield, one sees very few place kickers doubling at other positions.
It's not that easy to say "a punter is just a kicker," bandl.

GD SH...I just can't do anything but laugh here. I'm not going to read most of what you just wrote, I'm just going to tell you that i was joking. Easy enough?
I played receiver in high school, and could have easily in college also. I wasn't the fastest guy (4.7) on the team but I don't drop anything. I had to make tackles all the time in HS but was never put in the position to in college. I got recruited to play college baseball too, so I had an arm and could throw a football pretty well. Not far, but accurate from 40 in. Was our high school's place kicker too, and all time hs points leader. So, I could kick FG's in college if I had to.
Not to bash kickers, but punters are generally better athletes. I'm not saying I was a phenom by any means but I could certainly hold my own. I was a far better baseball player but I chose the football route after my ankle surgery. I lost about 5-7 mph off my fastball after that so it was a relatively easy decision.

Good enough, bandl.

And bandl, unless you ever meet me, don't make that assumption. This is a message board, you can't judge people from them.
You use your foot to 'kick' the ball, yes? Punter/Kicker...same thing to football players
Sorry, all I have to go on is what you present on the message board to make such an assumption....banning people on CS, rants about the Yankees & Ohio State, etc. Hey, you're passionate and seem a little hot-headed, I'm not holding it against you.

No he didn't. The little puss just hasn't shown his face in a while. There has been one person, other than spam bots, that has been banned here and I didn't do it. *cough*Titleist*cough*

Well that's good to hear Willie. The other issue was already sorted out and Mr. T has proven several times that he is pretty rick with humor on the subject.

I worked on a ranch in college. Does that make me a Sh!t Kicker?
The correct euphemism on Chris-boards is "isht."

No, he hasn't been banned. But Willie certainly did threaten to do just that to him. Unless you've deleted those posts Willie, we can go back and pull them up where where you threatened to ban him. I don't see the need to do that though...water under the bridge. I think in the end cooler heads prevailed.
