I am pretty surprised he isn't transferring so that he can play. The suspension is a team suspension and not NCAA. Couldn't he go down to DII or somewhere else and continue on with his season?clenz wrote:Keeping Blount on the team means he still has to go to class, pass his classes, be at all team meetings, all practices, etc...CatMom wrote:neither player/team showed good judgment and if you want my the coach would have had him off the team, for good, first thing this morning..... or sooner
I would also have some disciplinary action against the other player(s) if I were their coach.
The Boise player deserves something to reinforce to the team that this is not tolerated behavior. But hell, who am I?
Kick him off the team and he leaves school and lives his life doing what he wants. This way his punishment is having to do the football commitment without getting to play the games. I think it was a good way to do it.

DIII Mt. Union would seem to be a pretty good fit.slycat wrote:Yeah he can go DII or lower and play.dgreco wrote:

I'm not sure about this, but I think the NCAA could choose to suspend him if they wanted to. Right now there is no need because Oregon took care of it in house, but if Blount tries to transfer, the NCAA may have the option of stepping in.dgreco wrote:I am pretty surprised he isn't transferring so that he can play. Also, isn't this Blounts last year of eligibility?

Really? Blount has PERSONALLY apologized to the player and the Boise head coach. He apologized PERSONALLY and publicly to his coach, teammates, and school. He has not made any inquiries about transferring and has accepted his punishmnet. In fact, the only outside person he has contacted is Kermit Washington. If you don't know why, research Kermit. Kermit said that Blount was very respectful and made no excuses throughout their conversation.
The player who mouthed off to him, thus starting the fight, has not been disciplined AT ALL by the coach, the team, or the school. It would seem to be that the "classless" tag belongs in Boise, not Eugene.

Me thinks the "classless" label was for the actions ON the field, not after the fact.HIU 93 wrote:Really? Blount has PERSONALLY apologized to the player and the Boise head coach.
