Hey, a Sun Belt joke! That's refreshing!!

Seriously, your shtick has gotten old.
Take it easy on bareback, his beloved NAU even lost their Swimming & Diving coach to a Sun Belt school.

BOT5, 7-1 CCU. TCU is having a bit of a meltdown. I don't want to speak too soon though. Coastal is having a great night.

This is really cool. Hell, Mark, I'm gonna even dump my WC(b) here and root for the Chants. :ohno:

I watch a fair amount of the CWS every year. This is reminding me of when Fresno St. won it all a few years ago. People equated that to a #13 seed winning the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

9: Coastal Carolina is the first school to reach the championship game in its first trip to the College World Series since Georgia Tech in 1994. The Chanticleers look to become the first team to win it all in their debut since Minnesota in 1956, the 10th year of the event. The past nine schools to make it this far in their first trip to Omaha lost in the title game.

53: Coastal Carolina has won 53 games this season, the most in Division I and second most in school history. If the Chanticleers win the title, they'll match the highest win total in school history and become the first school since South Carolina in 2011 to win the title after reaching the CWS finals with more than 50 wins.

95: Coastal Carolina has hit 95 home runs this season, the most in Division I in the six seasons since BBCOR bats were adopted and power numbers dropped precipitously. Four Chanticleers have at least 15 home runs this season, while no other team in the nation has more than two players with that many homers.

1,098: Coastal Carolina coach Gary Gilmore has won 1,098 games in 27 seasons as a head coach at South Carolina-Aiken and Coastal Carolina. He's looking to become the sixth active coach with 1,000 wins and a national championship. The others are a who's who of college baseball coaches: Florida State's Mark Marquess, Miami's Jim Morris, LSU's Paul Mainieri, Rice's Wayne Graham and UC Irvine's Mike Gillespie.

Great article on the Chants.
The Chants (53-17), who have the most wins in the country and are the first team since Georgia Tech in 1994 to reach the finals in their College World Series debut, are just two wins away from a national championship as they prepare for their showdown with Arizona (48-22).

As the coaches would enumerate Sunday, the teams share a lot of similarities – in terms of their approach, their style to a degree, that they both had to win their way through the postseason in tough road environments before each working back through the losers bracket here in Omaha to reach this point.

And, of course, that neither was ever projected to be in this spot.

Coastal Carolina was simply trying to break through and just get to the College World Series for the first time, hoping a team laden with experienced seniors and juniors could be the one to go where no other group in program history had. And Arizona, meanwhile, had missed the NCAA postseason the last three years before taking off in year one under Johnson.

For the Chants, the season turned after being swept in a three-game series at Georgia Tech, April 29-May 1. They’ve won 22 of 25 games since then while working their way through the NCAA regionals at NC State and the super regionals at LSU and going 4-1 so far this week against the best competition in the country.

Boy...tough game last night. We held Arizona to 3. They were all over that field, catching everything, making great plays, etc... Hopefully Coastal learned a few things last night and will make some adjustments. I take solace in knowing that we held them to 3 runs while not using our best pitchers.

The most frustrating part of last night, aside from the 7th Inning errors
In the eighth inning, a long drive from Coastal Carolina shortstop Michael Paez was snagged off the top of the right center-field wall by outfielder Zach Gibbons, robbing a would-be two-run homer.

Any other ballpark, and that would've been a HR.

I guess Louisiana Lafayette had better get ready to be second fiddle in the Sun Belt.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

It's been a bit of a pitching battle. Our closer, Mike Morrsion, started (I think his 2 career start. And he's. Senior) threw for 7 innings and did a great job.
