When the Capital One Bowl is over, rip up that excuse for a field, put in a real drainage system, then start over.

I feel less embarrassed about the messy sod at Delaware Stadium a few years ago after watching this game between PSU and LSU.

You could hide a midget in those divots out there. What a fucking joke!

I think part had to do there were 6 football games over the past few days for state championships, then add in the constant rain. It was a horrible mess though.

Yeah they had 8 high school title games, the champs sports bowl and the capital one bowl all in a 4 week period. But that doesn't change the fact that the place is a dump.

I thought mud football was fun. I thoroughly enjoyed that game (when I wasn't watching Philly choke away the Winter Classic in Fenway at the two-minute warning of the third period, anyway). As far as I'm concerned, the Super Bowl ought to be permanently removed from the warm weather states and installed OUTSIDE in places like Minneapolis, Green Bay, and Buffalo. Or on a mud field. Now, THAT's football!

That's the way it's been done here for quite some time. The games cover two weekends with each day hosting a doubleheader.

It should be rotated so that every NFL city gets to host.

The Super Bowl is too big of business for that. It is a week-long event.

Here is my rotation:

1) Florida (rotate between Miami and Tampa
2) New Orleans/Texas (rotate between New Orleans, Houston, Dallas every fourth rotation)
3) Arizona
4) California (Rotate among cities)
5) All other (Indy, etc)

Repeat.

Rotate how, Jon? You described it pretty well for TX/LA, but not for the others. San Diego would work if one would accept football in PetCo Park; I doubt the NFL will go for the Murph for a game of that magnitude anymore. I have even less expectation of a SB hosted in the Oakland Colliseum or at the Stick, though the Giants' new digs by Fisherman's Wharf would be OK (except for the parking problem). Stanford might still be in the cards, though (no pun intended). Los Angeles or Pasadena might be in play, but does anyone want to go to U$C's crib again in that cr@zy part of town? Anaheim is getting old, too.

For AZ, are you looking at rotating between Phoenix, Tempe, and maybe Glendale? How about the Skydome? LOL.

Seattle's new stadium would be nice, though I'd rather have snow than rain. It would also be impossible for the second team in the now-unlikely circumstance that the Seahawks become the first true home-team SB participant (SF was close when they played at Stanford, I believe).

Everywhere else would likely have to get a new stadium to have a shot at hosting. In this economy, that's asking a lot, particularly in a place like SD where it would have to be essentially privately financed as the voters typically shoot down such public-private partnerships even in good economies.

Overall, though, that's a good idea, Jon, assuming that one includes even the cold-weather cities. It's time for a snow Super Bowl! We used to have NFL Championship Games in bad weather, and it's time for that concept to come back.

So? It might be cold. So what. It might rain in a warm weather city. The beauty of football is that it can be played in all conditions. The money will follow the game, regardless of where it is played.

There will never be an outside snow Super Bowl. Bank on it.


In California, the sites could include Stanford, the Rose Bowl, and if San Diego gets a better stadium.

Arizona - would only be the UOP Stadium.
