Fired for striking a player, yet during the investigation:
Miller told reporters and the investigators that Leavitt did not strike him
Sounds like a Mike Leach type scenario here... :coffee:

The kid and his father said it didn't happen. I think they were just looking for a way to get rid of Leavitt. Since a lot of people weren't really happy with the way the team has played the last couple of years.

And, much like those two, I'm guessing it negates the remainder of the contract. :coffee:

All this stuff about verbal and physical harrassment of players is due to too much PC and sissification in today's culture. Fatgino, Leach and Levitt probably didn't do close to what coaches like Bear Bryant, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, Darrell Royal, Bud Wilkinson, Barry Switzer, etc did. Its just now a days you have too many pussy ADs and college presidents.

BDK. You are blaming the wrong group. Blame parents that want Johnny to play, but not have to work for it

And blame suit happy lawyers

Bingo. The AD's are just trying to cover their asses from a suit most of the time.

No due process. Just a letter saying see ya. Accusations of lying just because he didn't agree with the allegations. I guess tenure means nothing anymore. Egad.

I know I am late to this, but this is absolute horseshit. He took that team from nothing and made them players in the big east. He started out with a few mobile homes and built a program. Their AD/whoever is spineless prick.

I hope they turn in Temple pre Golden.

you know how hard that would be to do. All the new coach has to do to stay solid is really recruit the Tampa Bay area hard. Something Leavitt never really did.

the situation that caused him to be fired was bull, but trust me, his seat has been warming since a couple of years ago when they went from 2 to unranked. Talent is there they just need to not hire a moron to coach the team. Although I heard Fulmer is interested. :coffee:

His firing is product of his own success. Expections were unrealistic after he got things going.

I think this will turn into a big mistake and I hope Leavitt lands on his feet quickly.

Good. Firing a guy with no due process on the basis of a phony "investigation" is wrong on a ton of levels. If you're going to fire a guy because he isn't meeting unrealistically elevated performance expectations, at least come clean and say so. Trying to couch it in bogus Texas Tech terms doesn't leave one with a whole lot of cred.
