I can't wait to watch this fool run USC's program into the ground.

I'm surprised you're not nominating Tebow, Warner, McGwire, or Rose....

Bottom line is USC just hired a 32 year old coach with a 5-15 record HC record with the Raiders and 7-6 at Tennessee.
On top of that, he's a walking NCAA recruiting infraction.
Highly likely he won't be anywhere near as successful as Carroll..

Based on that article you'd think Tennessee would be happy to see Kiffin go. If maintaining the Tennessee tradition was so important, they should have hired someone with Tennessee ties. You can't bring in an outsider, and then cry when they do things differently. USC has been one of the top programs in the nation the last few years and Kiffin has ties there, of course he's gonna use USC as a model to strive for. The article is just sour grapes.
It will be interesting to see how Kiffin does at USC.

The article reeks of sour grapes, but to instituite USC traditions on UT is in poor taste. I can see changing traditions, but you have too look at the school. Tennessee has some things that make it unique just as any school would. Gear traditions around its team, school, and geography.

I agree regarding traditions, but if it was that important for Tennessee they should have hashed this out during the interview process. It doesn't shock me that Kiffin would try and institute a USC type model since USC has been so good recently. Tennessee should have known what was coming ahead of time. Also, I didn't hear any of these complains until after Kiffin left.

I think even with trying to change to USC traditions, the team probably chose to see how that worked. Certainly some of these things should be discussed prior to hiring. It will look like sour grapes of course, but UT is better off now.

I do. Not my favorite QB of all time. (That will always be the immortal Danny White.) But I certainly like his integrity and longevity. I was merely speaking to the penchant some around here have for bashing those who don't hide their faith.

It's funny how the propaganda machine works. There have been PLENTY of other instances where head coaches have left their school, even after 1 year, to go to a school that they were an assistant or player at. It happens in all sports.
USC is an upgrade over Tennessee for Kiffin. His recruiting coordinator was one of the best ever in college football while at USC. Those USC teams were some of the best ever. Tennessee is a great program, but it's not USC in Kiffin's eyes.
I just find it funny/sad that people get all in an uproar over Kiffin. But if say, a Montana assistant had gone to southern Utah for a year and then went back to Montana after Hauck left, people wouldn't care. They only do about Kiffin because somehow, the SEC and Tennessee fans can't fathom a coach leaving Tennessee for another college job as if the SEC is the end-all-be-all.

That and Kiffin's big mouth got him all this publicity. I think the Tenn fans not believing it could happen to them because they're Tennessee Football for Pete sake, is only half of the issue. The other half is all of the promises/bold statements Kiffin made to the Tennessee program as well as about other teams in the SEC.

Not sure about that. EVERY coach that comes to a new program does what it takes to bang the drums. There aren't many coaches who on their first day said "I'm going to do this job to the best of my ability with hopes of moving on to my old school"
Kiffin came in and gave the school the type of spark that was necessary after replacing a long time coach in Fullmer. They needed a spark and he gave it to the program, especially in regards to the Florida rivalry.

Exactly, he came in, gave them the spark and then jetted.
That's why they are P.O.'d, he lit the fuse, trash talked a bunch of rival coaches/universities and then bounced leaving Tennessee with a check they may not be able to cash.

Tennessee>Montana. Except in our little world, no one cares one iota or even knows anyhting about anyone on the Montana coaching staff. Shit, hardly anyone cares or knows anything about about the UNLV coaching staff when compared to the numbers of people who care (or hate) and follow Tennessee. When you have two big-name programs like UT and USC, then of course people are going to have much more emotionally invested in the situation.

Your opening inequality is the complete opposite of the rest of your paragraph, bandl. Which is it?
Every first grader knows that Pac-Man chomps the bigger number.

PLENTLY? Really? Name some.
The only one I can think of is Bobby Petrino leaving the Falcons during his first season. He was skewered for it and his reputation hasn't recovered from it.
Name some head coaches that have left a prominent job after only 1 year that haven't been trashed. Shouldn't be too hard since it happens to often, right?
