Looks like the new blood in town is looking to destroy all the progress we've made over the last decade.

Be glad DSU didn't go the route of Northeastern and Hofstra. Times are tough, cuts may need to be made. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Has anyone complied all the sports cut nationwide?

Thus sucks for DSU.

Many schools are going through similar cutbacks. It is part of the economic reality. Wagner eliminated women's volleyball and men's wrestling. It could have been worse.

Women's jello wrestling?
One would think that sport would have made money. :D

Why should they have had a women's equestrian team anyway?

Not too many teams, particularly in that region. The tennis makes less sense, but you got Title IX at play and that was probably the best sport to cut with women's equestrian.

I would rather they have replaced equestrian with a more affordable women's sport. (tennis, lacrosse, field hockey). Instead of just eliminating two sports no questions asked.

There is gloom and doom in the SUNY System also. Stony Brook could face a nearly a 56 million dollar cut in State Funding later this year and the other 3 major schools - Albany, Buffalo and Binghamton are in the same boat. Not good.

I don't think Patterson's SUNY cuts have a chance of passing, though. Unfortunately I'm not sure the SUNY Flex act does either as its currently proposed. People have latched onto the "differential tuition" possibility and are pulling it down.

Women's wrestling?
Women's wrestling is an Olympic Sport and has slowly been gaining traction among schools. There are some NCAA womens programs.

Looks like one of the pissed off equestrian chicks is suing:

http://www.delawareonline.com/article/2 ... trian+team
DOVER — A Canadian teenager who signed a letter of intent with Delaware State University is suing over the school's decision to eliminate its women's equestrian team.

A federal lawsuit filed Tuesday by Ontario native Melia Blakely accuses DSU of Title IX discrimination against female athletes. Blakely is seeking class-action status for the lawsuit, which alleges that she was promised a scholarship by DSU and learned only through a Facebook posting that the school was scrapping the team.

With the passing of the letter-of-intent signing date, Blakely claims she can't obtain a full scholarship at another Division I school.

DSU's announcement last month that it was scrapping the equestrian team for budget reasons prompted a campus protest by team members.

Yeah, good luck with that.

The old ambulance-chaser danefan beat me to it!

I never pictured DSU as a mecca for the "horsey set" anyway.
