Big 10 and Big XII name changes

Post by 89Hen »

Now that the Big 10 is 12 and the Big XII is 10, certainly they HAVE to change names... don't they?

Let's see some proposals.

Big 10 stays the same.

Big 12 becomes the TAHB Conference

The Big 10 is never changing so no need to do anything there.

As for the Big 12, it could be the Big "Texas is making all the money and all we got was this stupid t-shirt" Conference?

As if the Big 10 wasn't dumb enough having that name with 11 teams. Why wouldn't they change to something now that they have 12 teams? They have to at least change their logo because I don't see how they can fit a 1-2 into the space where they currently have 1-1.

Big Ten is more than just a conference name, it really is an affiliation of schools and is probably one of the most well known. I think the name doesn't change. It would be cool to see the Big XII go to the SWC though.

Not to mention it has a national network branded with the conference name.

Well, the Big Ten has already proven that they don't know how to count. Given that there's at least one other conference out there in the same boat (the A-10), I think it's a safe bet to say that they'll be stubborn about the whole thing and call themselves the Big Ten even if they (rather dumbly, I might add) absorb the entire MAC.

I'm pretty sure they aren't worried about their ability to count. I mean, they seem to do alright counting the millions upon millions of dollars they take in each year. :lol:

I think they should all change names, but leave the numbers wrong just to mess with people.

Big Ten -> Rusty 10
Big XII -> Middle 12
Pac 10 -> WCB 10

Just to get everyone in on the act:

SEC -> SEC 7

I agree with those above...Big Ten will never change its name. It might possibly be the most recognized name in college athletics. There is too much branded in that name.

I heard that the Big XII has some copyright or something when it comes to the Big XII and bigger numbers beyond that (XIII, XIV, XV, etc.).

Does anyone know this for sure?
