After 5 weeks in FBS-land, there are still EIGHTEEN undefeated, untied schools remaining. Of those 18, the following matchups will eliminate probably several:

In the Big 12 (currently 5 undefeated, potential for 3 at end of season):

Kansas State plays Nebraska 10/9, OK State 10/30, Missouri 11/13
Missouri plays Oklahoma 10/23, Nebraska 10/30, K-State 11/13
Nebraska, plays K-State 10/9, OK State 10/23,
Oklahoma plays Missouri 10/23, OK State 11/27
Oklahoma State plays Nebraska 10/23, K-State 10/30, OKlahoma 11/27

In the Big 10 (4 undefeated, potential for 2 at end of season):

Michigan plays MSU 10/9, Ohio State 11/27
Michigan State plays Michigan 10/9, Northwestern 10/23
Ohio State plays Michigan 11/27
Northwestern plays MSU 10/23

In the MWC (2 undefeated, potential for 1):

Utah plays TCU 11/6
TCU plays Utah 11/6

In the Pac 10 (2 undefeated, potential for 1):

Oregon plays Arizona 11/26
Arizona plays Oregon 11/26

In the SEC (3 undefeated, potential for 1 undefeated):

Alabama plays LSU 11/6, Auburn 11/26
LSU plays Auburn 10/23, Alabama 11/6
Auburn plays LSU 10/23, Albama 11/26

In the WAC (2 undefeated, potential for 1);

Boise State plays Nevada 11/26
Nevada plays Boise State 11/26

So, right now there's the potential for NINE undefeated teams at the end of the season. I can't wait for Thanksgiving.

The Big 12 can only have two unbeatens prior to the Big 12 Championship game.

Are the divisions small enough to guarantee that everyone within any given division play each other? If not, I see potential for more than two perfect records before the Championship Game. They would probably break the tie based on the bogus B(C)$ computer rankings.

Yes. There can only be one unbeaten team in each division. If that were to happen those two teams would meet in the Conference Championship game.

LSU will go down this week. Not a fan of Auburn, but Miles' luck is running out.

Scratch Kansas State (predictably) off the "undeated' list.

It was a perfect ending to the long time conference series that Nebraska dominated from day 1.

The Bill Snyder-led K-State train left the tracks about 5 years ago, but nobody in Manhattan is willing to admit it.

Admit it? Hell, they brought it back! Like Ron Prince was the whole problem with their program.

I am glad to see Michigan is off the list. I am not a fan of UM or RichRod.

Oregon > All teams in College football

Sorry 'Bama, but defense doesn't win championships.

Ohio State will be the new #1. I smell an Oregon vs OSU rematch in the National Title game, with the same result as last year. A royal duck ass kicking.

I understand that you're a huge Ohio State fan, but that "ass kicking" as 19-17 until halfway through the 4th quarter, even with Masoli playing his worst game of the season and Pryor playing his best. OSU was definitely the better team, and did significantly outgain the Ducks, but that wasn't a blow out, and it wouldn't be this year either.

(wait...did I just defend Nike University..?)

After 6 weeks, the following undefeated are left:
AZGrizFan wrote: Big 12 (4 undefeated, potential for 1):

Missouri plays Oklahoma 10/23, Nebraska 10/30
Nebraska, plays OK State 10/23,
Oklahoma plays Missouri 10/23, OK State 11/27
Oklahoma State plays Nebraska 10/23, Oklahoma 11/27

In the Big 10 (2 undefeated, potential for 1):

Michigan State
Ohio State

They do not play. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

In the MWC (2 undefeated, potential for 1):

Utah plays TCU 11/6
TCU plays Utah 11/6

In the Pac 10 (1 undefeated, potential for 1):

Oregon

In the SEC (2 undefeated, potential for 1):

LSU plays Auburn 10/23
Auburn plays LSU 10/23

In the WAC (2 undefeated, potential for 1);

Boise State plays Nevada 11/26
Nevada plays Boise State 11/26
So, there can now be SIX teams that end up with unbeaten/untied records at the end of the season. Oh, what is the BCS to do?   :notworthy:

So 7 teams can be undefeated?

Boise/Nevada
Oregon
OSU
Mich St
LSU/Auburn
OU/MU/UN/Ok St
TCU/Utah

Boy! That would be so much fun!

I think there will be 6 at tops. Not sure LSU/Auburn get there

According to some "expert" on Rivals, only Boise will stay undefeated.

Only 1 of the OU/MU/UN/OK State can be undefeated. They have a championship game.

Couldn't happen to a better school. I despise K-State because of the way they treated military personnel when I was stationed at Ft. Riley, bunch of complete twats, every last one of em when I was there.

No way Nevada doesn't loose at least 2 games, can't scratch em off yet, but get the pencil sharpened up.

Who else (potentially) besides Boise?

@Hawaii, @Fresno St and Boise at home are the three, they drop 2 of those 3 is my guess. Anything can happen and that is why they play the games though. :)
