Auburn in trouble??

Post by DSUrocks07 »

This whole thing just might go A LOT deeper than just Cam Newton's dad getting (or not getting) $180K. And the FBI getting involved lends a TON of credence to this... man, oh man, if any of this is true...forfeiting this season would be the least of their worries...they just might shut down the school entirely...

I see that it was mentioned in the FCS thread about Chatty getting a win in a forfeit. BUt I figured this was deserving of its own thread.

If even half of that is true, the entire Auburn BOT needs to be in jail, and banned from 100 miles of Auburn.

If not, the school should be shut down.

Auburn could lose it's accreditation as an academic institution (gambling, embezzlement laws to name a few are invoked) if the FBI decides to take legal action.

Basically its alleged that the Board of Trustees is involved in a major money laundering scheme involving donors and a now belly-up bank that was under investigation for FDIC fraud.....blah blah blah......bunch of rich southern white dudes trying to play gangsta and dropping some dough to recruits and current players to have a good football team at the same time.

And the payments to players were made by way of special slot machines which never lost at casinos and randomly provided ATMs cards, etc..etc.. etc...

EDIT: Allegedly of course.... :D

I would be that this crime circle would take the University down with them out of spite. Considering how their reactions to this in hiring their friends and fellow cohorts as lawyers and legal counsel, they're going to keep those wagons circled as long as possible.

Then as is the case in crime circles that are about to get hammered, they turn on each other but the dye is already cast.

Another interesting part is if there are any trails that lead to any other schools from this. The FBI is probably not going to just conduct sweeps of other schools unless they have hard evidence, but they could use the funding numbers from Auburn to look at the NCAA and the BCS if there's something seriously wrong going on.

Guess it's time to officially turn big time college football and basketball professional and quit pretending it's church league.

This is sad, but I would think DSU is over-reacting just a tad here. The football season might be affected, but I could hardly believe that the entire school would be shut down.

Incidentally, what are the odds the B(C)$ elitists postpone action on this until AFTER January just to screw Boise/TCU?

That long ass post is actually a condensed version.

Here it is in a nutshell, though:

-Auburn coaches and boosters that were around when Auburn got probation during the Dye era are still involved heavily with the current football operations.

-Boosters have used an elaborate scheme of paying players and/or family through casino winnings and/or ATM cards linked to a banks slush account. The bank (Colonial Bank) and casino (Victoryland) were/are run by Auburn boosters. Former coach and boosters were also important figures at this bank.

-The bank is no longer in operation, but the CEO of that bank (Bobby Lowder) is now in charge of finance at auburn.

-The FBI is really involved because the casino has also had some improper dealings with corrupt politicians in Alabama, some of which have already been indicted.

-The FBI's wire taps were really for the Casino and politicans stuff, but they discovered all the Auburn stuff as colatteral damage.

-The former coaching staffs were not deaf to the situations, but the boosters were not able to control them well enough, and thus, a 5-16 coach at Iowa State with former ties to the universties under-the-table workings was hired to become the boosters new puppet.

-NCAA and SEC front office may have been asked to be quiet by the FBI, and that may be the delay in all the rulings on Cam Newton. FBI wants to bust Casino people and didnt want Cam Newton affecting their work while they compiled their evidence.

-This may run on for quite some time, but when the dust settles, Auburn will most likely at least have to vacate any wins and titles acquired this year. That is probably the best Auburn could hope for at this point.

Here's a youtube from a 60 minutes report on what Auburn was doing in the early 1990's under Pat Dye. Dye and Lowder are still heavily influential in the AD and Board of Trustees:

Article on the wiretapping of Milton McGregor... big Auburn booster arrested for buying votes. The rumor is the wiretapping revealed a "pay for play" scheme that has the FBI now interested in CamGate:
