Being relatively new to the area and still trying to establish our group of friends I've outwardly maintained Swiss-like neutrality. That being said, I like USC - the fan douchebaggery is MUCH lower among the Columbia faithful.

Agreed, Clemson fans are like USC fans except they don't play in as tough a conference and therefore enjoy a smidge more success and are under the delusion that their team can win something big (such as an ACC/National Championship). South Carolina fans are always delusional for the first few weeks of the year as they play their best game at that time, but usually they are humbled in the second half of the year and therefore less rowdy.

They are all pretty dumb though. None of them know that Furman and Wofford have had more successful programs in the State, they both have more wins this decade than both, not to mention Conference titles and being serious contenders for the national title by making the playoffs. I bragged about Wofford's win % being the best in the State the other day and all my gamecock fans said we don't play anybody. I countered by Saying that they lost to the Citadel (a fact they don't remember) last time they played and we've beaten them 12 years straight so that argument was null and even so we win games, they don't.

That's because USC and Clemson beat Wofford and Furman whenever they play them. FU and WC are no threat. But that's okay, neither is WCU. Hell, we can't even beat a d2 team.

yes, but when it comes to successful programs, Furman and Wofford are lightyears ahead of both those jokers

In overall wins/losses, yes, I would agree. Exposure, reputation, following, revenue, eh.......THEY are light years ahead of the others in SC. Just facts. Good luck this week.

I hope USC beats Auburn this weekend.

We definitely root for the Gamecocks at my house. My BIL is a an alum and we watch most of their games at my house and my neice is a sophomore there.

Plus, I've never met a Clempson fan that had all their teeth.

Looking forward to South Carolina's 2011 season. Almost everybody coming back!

WHAT?!?!?!? Half my family (blood) are USC fans and I married into a Clemson Family. From what I see in the Charleston/Columbia area, USC fans are far worse in the douche-baggery department.

That said, both schools irritate me more and more. The constant fighting is getting annoying and there are few good natured discussions/smack talk between them any more. They just want to kill each other.

Clemson fans are the worst. They are obnoxious, arrogant andthe worst losers.

Hey, I don't even have a dog in the fight. Working 15 miles from Klempsun I get to see the worst of it a lot of the time. I'm pretty indifferent overall, but the USC folks I've met seem to be a bit classier than the CU folks - probably the "official state school" vs. "state ag school" mentality. Maybe I just see a lot of the CU bandwagoners around here that's clouded my objectivity a bit.
