Put me in charge of this. The thing about a playoff system at the highest level of college football (FBS) is that they have all the tools in place to generate interest and create a playoff bracket. It seems, though, that no one wants to get it done. I propose this...take the BCS rankings, make sure there is at least one entry from the six BCS conferences, and tweak it slightly so that there are no two schools from the same conference meeting in the first round. This year, this is what you would have for the first round...

(Big East) Connecticut at (1) Auburn
(9) Michigan State at (8) Arkansas

(13) Virginia Tech at (4) Stanford
(12) Missouri at (5) Wisconsin

(14) Oklahoma State at (3) TCU
(11) LSU at (6) Ohio State

(10) Boise State at (7) Oklahoma
(15) Nevada at (2) Oregon

Tell me that there would be no interest from the first round onward. Tell me that the BCS would not be able to make money off of that bracket. And finally, tell me that there would not be any intrigue week by week as these BCS rankings are made public and the ESPN and FOX prognosticators would be having a field day analyzing potential matchups every week in anticipation for the "final" BCS rankings. Also, in regards to the Big East, the argument would not be if they deserve to be in over TCU but if they deserve to be in over Alabama (I think we would finally have an energized debate on that one).

my only problem is that using the BCS rankings to determine the field is bogus.

My problem is a 4th qtr FG in an additional game that Missouri and Oklahoma State dont have to play costs a team a spot in the playoff while two teams that team beat, MIssouri and Oklahoma State make the playoff field.
