Hawaii joins MWC for football, Big West all other sports beginning 2012. This has two significant issues:
1) WAC is again below the minimum of 8 to be an FBS conference in 2012. They need to hurry if they are going to add someone in time.
2) I believe the WAC now fails to meet the 5/6/7 clause for auto bids to NCAA tournament in 2012.
Tx St, UTSA...what now? Do you hang on in hopes Benson can find someone, or do you try to make amends in the SLC?

Why is there always someone who has to be an a-hole?
The discussion is not dead as it pertains to Texas St, who is an FCS member.

Yeah. Because whenever someone mentions the WAC it think FCS.
And I don't know why there are always a-holes that can't post in the right board or know what
means. We just gotta learn to live with 'em.

High school and middle school wrestling season starts tomorrow. Both of my boys have tourneys and we've got a really early start tomorrow morning.

We were accepted by the WAC (FBS). We have been "let go" by the SLC. If there are not enough schools, from what I understand, we would play as FBS Independents, within the WAC conference...as it would not affect the other sports.
We would have to find OOC games along with playing everyone else (that's left) in the WAC.
We are non-conference for the rest of the SLC in 2011 - so that says we're out there and I have no idea if/when the payout has been/will be made
I think this is the scenario, but I'm not positive.

Catmom, so what is the feeling among the TX State faithful? Is anyone having second thoughts about the move? Or are they thinking about pursuing Sun Belt membership?

This is what the students/fans (I'm a rare exception) wanted. They wanted this back in 2000, with Jim Wacker leading the charge, but it failed miserably. There are no thoughts of turning back.
I don't know if the admin would pursue the Sunbelt, or C-USA. They stated all along they would wait for an invite. I assume everyone hopes the WAC can be shored up by the time we are actual members (2012).
All I can do is sit back and wait and see what unfolds.
