Mike Leach meets with Maryland search committee about football coaching job

An interview Thursday between former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach and the search committee charged by the University of Maryland to find the school's next football coach went well, according to two individuals close to the athletic department.

Leach met with first-year Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson and first-year university president Wallace D. Loh on Thursday evening, one source said. It remained unclear whether an official offer was extended to Leach as of Thursday night.

The sources did not want to be identified because they were not authorized to speak on Maryland's behalf.

And now they hire Randy Edsall. Fail. I mean no offense to Edsall and his coaching, but why go out of your way to publically humiliate your ACC Coach of the Year, who also happens to be an alumni, and only had one year left on his contract? He brought Maryland football back to a place of respectablity it hadn't been in since the Bobby Ross years in the early to mid 80's.
Andreson and Loh have completely pissed off and alienated a very large part of the money giving alumni.

If they were going after Leach and feared he would go somewhere else, that is somewhat understandable. But was anyone banging down Edsall's door? Why not let Fridge ride off into the sunset in '11 and then get Edsall?

The planets are aligning for Towson-Maryland this fall. LOL
