Don't know the particulars but he learns a lesson and if she got him wound up for something dumb and helped him go over the cliff then she gets to take a deserved pay cut as well. Good for them.

Haywood told the PittTribune-Review he would be vindicated. "It isn't fair," he said. "The truth will eventually come out."

I'm not sure if this was an appropriate response to an ARREST. From the Yahoo! article, it seems more like an excuse to save face after the EXTREMELY unenthusiastic fan response to Haywood's hire after Dave Wannstedt was inexplicably fired. Haywood was not seen as the answer to getting Pitt into the Top 25 after only 2 years at Miami (OH), one of which was a one-win season. (The other was a 9-win MAC championship, but that is seen as a down year for the MAC.) It may be a weak attempt by the AD to keep his own job. He was fired at Neb after his failed hiring of Bill Callahan. The press is speculating that Wannstedt may be asked to return, but he may not because he wasn't happy with how the school handled him.

Normally, I'd wait for a conviction before firing a guy because otherwise you open yourself up to a wrongful termination suit if the guy is exonerated in court. A suspension might be warranted, but a firing is too risky. But in this case, it may be the AD that's in over his head.
