The Mountain West Conference

I wish the BCS would give the MWC an autobid but I don't think it will happen anytime soon. Boise, Nevada, Air Force, San Diego State, Fresno State, and Hawaii in one conference would be a conference with a lot of potential. The problem is that Boise is the only consistent team out of all of those. If TCU was still in the conference chances are the Mountain West would be given an autobid IMO, and definitely they would get one if BYU and Utah were still in. I think the Mountain West can earn an autobid if they perform well in Bowls over the next few years, spit out a few 10 and 11 win teams every year, and have more BCS busters with success. They could also improve the strength of their conference and earn some revenue by adding Houston and maybe SMU, both teams aren't extremely impressive right now but they have a huge upside as their coaches are building pretty good programs, additionally those teams are in pretty big Media markets of Houston and Dallas. Just my two pennies worth

MWC > ACC, Big East.

MWC > ACC, Big East.
So you're saying the MWC's 9 teams are better than the ACC's top 9? I'll give you TCU and Air Force (since they beat Georgia Tech). Maybe Utah (depending on which team shows up and who they're matched up with)

I agree if they would have kept TCU, Utah, and BYU.

they didn't lose a game by more than 5 points (and that team won the Rose Bowl)

Ridiculous statement. MWC is a good conference, but definitely not better than the ACC, and in some years, not better than the Big East.
The additions of Nevada, Fresno and Hawaii certainly up their cachet, though. (Didn't mention Boise, as I see that as an even swap for TCU).

The ACC might be stronger as a whole than the MWC, but their top two aren't better than the MWCs top two. They make up the difference at the bottom, with Duke being the only perennial bottom dweller. Big East, same thing.. a lot of middle of the pack teams, but no usually dominant team(s). The top end of the MWC is most definitely better than both of these conferences. The Big East champ this year probably would have been beat by the top 3 teams in the MWC. Maybe even top 4. Head to head, the MWC would dominate both conference at the top, the ground would be made up at the bottom, unfortunately... which is keeping the MWC from being a sure bet to get BCS status.

Virginia Tech is a better team than people give credit for, I think TCU could probably beat them but at the same time it would be close.

The MWC top two better than the ACC top two? This year? No way.
I'd say TCU-VaTech wold probably be a toss-up...any given saturday in that one.
Who is the second team you are picking in the ACC? In the MWC?
If you are going FSU and Utah, just no way that is a close game. FSU dominates that from start to finish. Shoot, I don't think Utah could beat FSU, NC St, Miami. They might give Maryland a game though.
Anyhow, top to bottom:
VaTech=TCU
FSU>Utah
NC St>AF (though I love the Falcons and think they can hang with just about anybody...except TCU obviously)
Miami>SDSU
Maryland>BYU
UNC>CSU
I won't continue, but the pattern remains the same. How again is the MWC better than the ACC?

You are WAY off.
Utah is better than, or at least equal to FSU
Air Force is much better than NC State
San Diego State would beat Miami by 15, minimum
BYU easily over Maryland

No way Miami beats San Diego, that team is way better. BYU when playing its best could beat Maryland I think, Air Force is a very underrated team and could beat NC State if they wanted to. Utah would hang with FSU for at least 3 quarters

Not only would Miami beat SDSU, I believe they would beat Utah as well. As evidence:
@Utah 27 - 24 Pitt OT
Miami 31 - 3 @Pitt
This assumes that is the Miami team that shows up. Good chance the UVA/USF/ND Canes team shows up though.

Outside of the GaTech bowl win, AF's best win was over Navy, the only team they beat that had a winning record.
BYU only slightly better, as they beat SDSU.

No it's not. I can watch football and I have no problem being able to distinguish good teams and bad teams.
I've watched 120-130 college football games this year. Miami is so wildly inconsistent, it's hard to tell where they are. Are they really the team that throws 3 picks in one quarter? Or are they the team who is probably 4 or 5 plays from being 10-2? I don't know, which is probably why Coach Shannon got fired.
BTW, if anyone cares....IMO, Boise St is still the best team I've seen play all year. Regardless of the outcome of that Nevada game.

BYU and Army had a winning record. S really out of the 13 teams they played, they lost to 4 with a winning record, beat 4 with a winning record, and beat 5 with a losing record. The only team that Air Force wasn't competitive with was TCU. They only lost by 3 to Oklahoma. How is that a bad team? Air Force could beat Maryland (because Navy would have won without redzone turnovers). NC State is underrated though, they're just extremely inconsistent

you and everybody else on here buddy, Miami was an average team in a bad conference.

I think TCU is a better team than VA Tech.. VATech did lose to an FCS school.. and Boise, a supposedly weaker team. Utah/FSU would be a push.. depends which team on either side shows up. AFA would handle NC St. SDSU and Miami.. really depends on which Miami shows up. SDSU really should have had two more wins in its scheduled, but really got screwed vs. Missouri and BYU (both were official f-ups that were apologized for by the officials). Maryland/BYU is a push. UNC > Colorado State.

I'm a realest. The SEC west was the best this year. The ACC was the bottom and you have your beer goggles on if you think otherwise. Could you have an argument for the MWC being weaker? certainly. But the MWC had one thing this year and that was consistency. The terrible bottom of the pack, with the exception of BYU who improved over the year, did not beat any of the top teams whereas in the ACC that is commonplace. That's why they are better. They win the games they should win. The ACC doesn't and there are multiple examples of this year alone of teams losing when they shouldn't

I also think TCU is a better team, but if they played 10 times...I think each takes 5 games.
Utah/FSU is not a push...not even close. W/L record of teams Utah beat: 44-78. W/L record of teams FSU beat: 48-48. (Whoever would have though I would be defending the criminoles?)
AFA would not "handle" NC St.
Agree on Miami/SDSU.
Maryland/BYU not a push. W/L record of teams BYU beat: 23-50. W/L record of teams Maryland beat: 40-44
BTW, here are the Sagarin Predictor ratings for the teams (Predictor is the best rating for predicting future games):
5 TCU
9 VaTech
11 FSU
22 Miami
26 NC St
32 Utah
39 UNC
40 Maryland
44 Air Force
46 San Diego St
64 BYU
Final statement, I think the MWC should be given an auto BCS slot.

I will agree the SEC West was the best division in cfb this year. However the ACC was by far not the worst, and you are being an ignorant SEC honk if you think otherwise. Aside from Miami losing to Virginia, what other "top team" lost to one of the bottom teams, and since you think Miami was a middle of the pack ACC team, I guess that one doesn't count either. So your argument is moot.

Like, gag me with a spoon. I'll NEVER take the SEC or any portion of it as the best in CFB. There's a better argument for the BSC or the CAA than the SEC....
