Pokes vs. Panthers for the WWC regular season title. Go Pokes!

Just went though all their common duals, very similar scores, Wyoming gives up less points, but results very similar. Looks like they flip flop 125 and 133, or the results are posted wrong, anyway this is how I see it, most likely comes down to toss up matches at 184 and HWT.
125-133 - got to split at worse! 3-3
141 UNI 6-3
149 UNI (toss up) 9-3
157 UNI 12-3
165 WYM 12-7
174 (toss up) UNI 15-7
184 WYM 15-10 (Loder could beat Leblanc)
197 WYM 15-13
HWT depends who wrestles, WYM 15-16
looks like Wyoming has wrestled several HWT's and different bodies at 157-165-174, should be a great dual.

UW will probably not lose between 125 and 141. Very good wrestlers at all of those weights, all ranked. 149 could go either way. Pokes will win 165 and 184, no question. Wyoming's only weaknesses are the 149/157 and HWT. Solid every where else.

Old Dominion. UNI won 19-15, UW won 20-16.
Oklahoma St. UNI lost 33-12. UW lost 34-3.
North Dakota St. UNI won 21-19. UW won 35-3.
South Dakota St. UNI won 38-9. UW won 49-0.
Nebraska. UNI lost 18-15. UW lost 20-12.
Northern Colorado. UNI won 32-6. UW won 43-3.
Air Force. UNI won 25-12. UW won 32-12.

Should be a great dual for the WWC crown. Hopefully the guy on my website will be streaming it.

Any more rumors of UNI and/or Wyoming joining the Big12 as wrestling only members?

Wasn't aware of those rumors... that'd be frickin' sweet. MWC is adding one more wrestling school in Boise State, but Boise competes in the Pac10. Where'd you see those rumors at?

I know that UNI's AD has sent a formal letter to the B12 inquiring about admission. I have heard of anything further though. I hadn't heard of Wyo though in that discussion.

We're only four matches in and the Pokes are not wrestling very well today. They're not good on the road, and today is no exception.

UNI wins 19-13, and takes the conference championship.

Make it 25 of 26 conference titles.

Just as we suspected, it came down to the last match. UNI scored a couple upsets and got a dual win. I hope the Pokes tournament team shows up instead of the road dual team in two weeks in Colorado Springs.. there we'll see who the conference champion is. Wyoming had a very difficult SOS, it's undoubtedly got them worn down.. a couple weeks off will do them good.

Thanks for the discussion guys. I've been really busy with both HS and MS wrestling this winter so I haven't been able to follow college wrestling as much as I'd like. Always good to be able to come on here an get a littlle info.

This is a tiny bit inaccurate. Wyoming won the regular season title in 2008, 2009, and 2010. UNI won the conference tournament in 2008 and 2009. Wyoming won it in 2010.

My mistake I am thinking of the Regional/WWC tournament title.

From the 2009 final release, and UNI did not win in 2010

The Panthers also captured the Western Wrestling Conference dual and tournament championships. UNI was
a perfect 4-0 in league dual action for the third straight season season. The Panthers then finished off the WWC season by winning the NCAA West Regional/WWC title. The regional win marked the 24th straight regional crown
for the Panthers.

I read yesterday where UW hadn't lost a conference dual since 2008... until yesterday. Lame.
