The guy from the board of trustees giving the press conference was a bafoon. You could tell a lot of the reporters asking questions were pissed, especially after the trustee refused to give a solid reason for why Paterno deserved to be fired.

The PSU Board of Trustees are a bunch of clowns...

lol, you have to be kidding me. The guy handled the whole press conference great. It was the idiotic reporters that were bafoons. If anyone thinks otherwise, they have some issues...

The man himself said he wishes he had "done more". Well, like all good Catholics, he apparently was happy to just sweep it under the rug and hope it didn't cause too much of a stir. I realize he satisfied his legal obligations by reporting it to his superiors, but seriously, what kind of person just forgets about something like that when his superiors fail to act on it? SMFH.

Neither was a buffoon. The Board member did a good job in answering as much as he realistically could have (as good as possible in that situation). The press did their job - they had to ask the questions even if the Board could not answer. All knew what was going to happen and they fulfilled their duties.

Next up, now that Paterno and Spanier are gone, McQueary should be gone soon too.

Lets see, the President, VP, AD, and Paterno all fired. Not argueing with any of that. Think the Chairman of the Board of Trustees should be added to the list. Who the heck calls a press conference at 10 PM at night for something that should be announced during normal working hours? That press conference should have been between 9 AM-5 PM. Also NOT saying Paterno shouldn't have been let go, but to call a man who has been there for 64 years, HC for 46, around 10 PM to fire him over the phone? HORRIBLY handled by their Board of Trustees.

They held the press conference following the vote. No reason to hold the vote and then wait til the next day to take questions about it.

I will say the board might have been wiser to notify authorities what they were doing so police could have been put in position to better handle the situation on campus.

The fact that "it needed to be done ASAP" doesn't excuse them from mishandling it so piss-poorly. Did they really need to wait until 10pm tonight when all of this could of and SHOULD OF been handled days ago by giving an ultimatum to Paterno and the PSU prez? Resign by Thursday or you will be fired. Not informing the authorities that this vote was even taking place is inexcusable as well...totally ill prepared. Taking actions without considering the repercussions are why their are late night riots going on in State College right now. Did they really expect everyone to be asleep at 10pm? This isn't Dover, Delaware.

No reason to have the vote around 10 PM. Should have held the vote hours earlier, or adjourned hours earlier and held the vote the next morning with the press conference to follow. They still were bafoons.

I have no idea when the meeting started or how long it lasted... If it was possible to start it earlier they should have, but in no way should a vote have been delayed to prevent a news conference from happening when it did... The issue needed to be settled not delayed because some people dislike the time of the news conference.
