Bobby Davis told Outside the Lines he never told Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim about the abuse, but Boeheim often saw Davis lying on Fine's bed in a hotel room yet didn't question his longtime colleague about it. Although Davis said he reported the abuse to Syracuse police in 2003, he said a detective told him the statute of limitations had run out and an investigation would only be launched if Davis could produce a current victim.

Syracuse responded to the ESPN.com report by placing Fine on administrative leave "in light of the new allegations and the Syracuse City Police investigation."

The Syracuse PD supposedly has looked into this twice already. One of the previous times they mentioned the statute of limitations had been exceeded. Can anyone familiar with NY law shed any light on this??

Sounds like an opportunistic chance for a quick money settlement. I don't believe it. I heard on Mike&Mike this morning Boheim says it's a lie.

A 2nd person, the stepbrother of the accuser, who was also a ballboy, has come out and said he was molested too.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse University fired associate head basketball coach Bernie Fine on Sunday in the wake of an investigation of child molestation allegations against him.

"At the direction of Chancellor Cantor, Bernie Fine's employment with Syracuse University has been terminated, effective immediately," Kevin Quinn, the school's senior vice president for public affairs, said in a statement.

The 65-year-old Fine was in his 36th season at his alma mater. He had the longest active streak of consecutive seasons at one school among assistant coaches in Division I.

Fine's firing comes in the wake of new revelations Sunday, including a third accuser. Syracuse had placed Fine on paid administrative leave when accusations first surfaced.

Syracuse had better hope the dude is convicted. If he's acquitted, they're gonna be liable for a HUGE wrongful termination suit since they didn't bother to wait until the outcome of the trial.

Whether or not that's admissible may be up to debate. Plus, earlier in this thread, there was something about the father of an alleged victim saying that his son is a liar. That sort of puts the credibility of the whole thing up in the air. That's not to say the guy didn't do it. But it DOES make one wonder about convincing a jury beyond the shadow of a doubt.

The standard in NY isn't "beyond any reasonable doubt" but rather "a preponderance of evidence" IIRC...

Two questions I have:

1. WTF happened within the Cuse police department?
2. How long has ESPN had the tape of this dude's wife admitting she saw him abusing this kid? It was recorded in 2002.....

You don't have to be convicted of a crime to be fired from a job.

Boeheim came out and definded this guy and called the 2 accusers liars. If this guy is guilty, Boeheim is done.

Boeheim earlier:

"I know this kid (Davis), but I never saw him in any rooms or anything. It is a bunch of a thousand lies that he has told. You don't think it is a little funny that his (relative) is coming forward?
"He supplied four names to the university that would corroborate his story. None of them did. … there is only one side to this story. He is lying."
Boeheim also questioned Davis' motives. "Why would he go to ESPN? What are people looking for here? I believe they are looking for money. I believe they saw what happened at Penn State and they are using ESPN to get money."
