Considering they would have teams spread all over the country, wouldn't it seem silly to keep calling it the Big East? I would think a name change may be in order.

yup, didn't someone let these schools know that they are looking to do away with BCS autobids anyway? End up joining the Big East for the autobid just to find out that the rug has been pulled away.

Don't forget to make the Big Ten become the Big 12 and the Big 12 become the Big Ten

This is a bogus alignment, yes, but I'm not so sure it's the biggest footprint ever. Other contenders would be the Sun Belt and the Great West.

it's not really that close... San Diego really draws the western lines out...

If you consider football as part of the Great West, they still have UC Davis and Cow Poly (until they officially join the Sky).

If Boise was smart, or had at least half-a-brain, they'd ask for a waiver on the $5-10M exit fee the Big East has if/when the AQ process goes away, as it may in a year. At that point it wouldn't matter what league Boise was in or they could be independent for that matter.

There's more to it than just AQ status. There's TV money, and even if the BCS does get rid of the AQ's there will still be bowl tie ins.

Boise is better positioned in the Big East than it would be in the Mountain West or even a Mountain West/C-USA superconference.

Interesting that Air Force which was supposed to come on a year later in 2014 has now said they've changes their minds & won't be joining in the future. I wonder if that will effect Navy as well.
