The Lumberjacks have one of the top mid major programs in the country and they excell in distance running as you probably well know.I like you follow the small schools but there's a young woman from a big school I feel will break the NCAA women's mark for the hurdles say hello to future 100mh record holder Christina Manning of Ohio St she is the only hurdler that has threatened the collegiate marks indoor and outdoor of former Southern California hurdler Virginia Powell!!!!

TXST got one guy in - Logan Cunningham - Pole Vault

TXST T&F has been mediocre of late but got a new coach this year and improved immensely. Give us a couple years and I bet we send bunches more.

Somebody else had to get that with Liberty losing Sam Chelanga to graduation. He absolutely DOMINATED the NCAAs in XC and on the track 5K and above. It's VERY hard to get two such people back-to-back, especially as a mid-major.

He's a Pole Vaulter
I think his qualifying height was 17' 8.5"

He's a Jr and also qualified last year in addition to this year's (NCAA) indoor championships

As I said, our track team was on the downward slide but we hired Dana Boone as the new T&F coach (first woman to ever coach a multi-gender sport in NCAA DI history)

Had vast improvement this year with this team setting a bunch of new school records. Things are looking up.
Had several 1st and 2nds at the SLC conference championships by sophs and jrs.

I can't believe I actually have to correct CM. She's usually closer to perfect than ANY of us.

Unfortunately, Dana Boone is NOT the first woman to ever coach a multi-gender sport in NCAA D-I history. She MIGHT be the first African-American woman to do it. But she is NOT the first woman. Her bio indicates that TX State is Boone's first HC job. I don't know who IS the first female head coach of a D-I multi-gender program, but Kathleen Raske has been HC of both men's and women's track at Sac State since 2004, and was HC at another D-I institution before that. Raske is the first woman to oversee a D-I men's team that won the conference championship FOUR TIMES on her watch. Raske has SERIOUSLY turned around a notoriously moribund program, which is embarrassing given that her predecessor Joe Neff (HC for something like 30 years) was a teacher and coach at my high school before he went to Sac.

I'm sorry, CM.

Nothing to correct. This info was in an article that was published not long after the hire (last July) I'm trying to find it now (using google) but am not having much luck. It wasn't a university article, either. I was just "quoting" what that article stated. If I come across it I'll put the actual wording (quote) on here. It is most likely the African American head Coach thing but it's been a long while (nearly a year) and my brain doesn't retain like it used to.

So if I was "wrong" it was because I'm old :D
