Syracuse is headed to the ACC a year early

As expected, Syracuse will leave the Big East early and join the ACC as of July 1, 2013, both conferences confirmed today.
“The ACC looks forward to the arrival of Syracuse as a playing member on July 1, 2013," ACC commissioner John Swofford said in a prepared statement. "Syracuse will be an outstanding addition to the ACC. We’ve been preparing to welcome them into our membership and I’m pleased that Syracuse and the Big East were able to come to an agreement. As a league, we continue to be excited about our future.”
Syracuse will pay a $7.5 million exit fee to leave before the 27 months required under Big East bylaws

I suppose they'll do that through forfeiting TV/bowl/tournament revenues? It's kinda tough for any school to pull off a fee of that size otherwise....
