I also am an Illinois fan - attended school there, Dad and Grandpa did as well.

University of South Carolina. I root for them b/c I come froma Clemson family and wanted to irritate them. THen I went to Coastal, which was part of USC.

Grad school, but I'm a VERY passive Wake fan. Haven't been to a football game in 8-9 yrs, went to a basketball game maybe 5 yrs ago.

I grew up a UNC tarheel fan (Dad's an alum), but after dealing with their fans over the years I've learned to dislike them.

I am not typical of a Utah person as I root for all the in state schools. Most around here are either a BYU or a Utah fan and think they should be mutually exclusive. Having not grown up around here (Montana, duh! ), I could care less and want to watch as much football as possible and they are all easy to follow.

UVA - Mrs 89's alma mater
South Carolina - niece is a Sr there and BIL graduated from there and he comes over to watch all the ESPN games
Penn St - a dozen cousins went there

Penn State- Dad, Sister and several Aunts, Uncle's and Cousins went there. I don't want to hear it


Virginia- One of my neighbors growing up played there in the late 80's early 90's and always came out to play around with us young kids in the neighborhood. We loved him and all watched/rooted for him when we could. I'm not really a fan per se, but I still like to see them do well

Rock Chalk Jayhawk ... Kansas Jayhawks

I was born in Kansas City and wanted to be Darnell Valentine when I was a kid playing basketball.

Growing up a contrarian in Iowa, I hated the Hawkeyes from an early age and liked Ohio State football partially to spite Turkeyhawk fans and partially because I liked Archie Griffin and the quality linebackers they always seemed to have. From an FBS perspective, I still like OSU but I've moved on to following programs based on coaching philosophies more than anything else. I love Oregon's fast-paced offense,TCU's 4-2-5 Spoke defense and Boise State's willingness to play the big games on the road.

UMass...because I am a member of the class of '86...

1. Michigan:

First college football game I remember watching is the infamous UM/Colorado game with Kordell Stewart. For some reason I was hooked though. Maybe it's fate as I grew up on Michigan Ave in my home town...I don't know. I can't explain it, it just happened and has grown since then.

2. Louisville:

More recent to my "liking" but TBH has family in the Louisville area, I've toured the facilities down there...I really liked it.

After those two I don't really have teams I "root" for. It depends on who they are playing.


I hope the following list of teams loses every single game they play...and if there are two schools playing each other I hope for a bomb at mid-field.

Oregon. Yes, I'm a t-shirt fan/bandwagoner, but I jumped on during the Joey Harrington era, so I was relatively young. I also enjoy the state a lot, so that factors in, as well.

Why do you hate Southern Cal, because they're the REAL USC?

Northwestern cuz their local and Pat Fitzgerald is a bad ass
Tennessee from the first time I saw them play on TV, I just liked them.

USC (the real one, not that fake ass one on the east coast) and SDSU (the real one not that fake ass one in the plains).

UVA all the way. Just because that was the team to root for, especially since my family friends son played basketball for UVA in the 80's.

No. Don't watch FBS games, ever.

Ohio State

My favorite male quarterback played for AZ State, and my college position coach essentially started the program (first OC) at South Florida, but I really don't care for FBS. I consider FBS football to be vastly inferior to FCS....

First major football game I can remember was their only BCS title and I've loved them ever since

Navy - local Can't stand Maryland.

UCLA - cousin swam there before they dropped the program

Air Force - used to go to games when we lived in Colorado growing up.
