Was he a Notre Dame alum????

He was a Pitt alum, he just blew Notre Dame every chance he got since he was Irish Catholic.

Wow, really? The guy's barely been gone for 48 hours and people are already ripping him because he liked Notre Dame? What a bunch of no-class bums you d-bags are. Why not mention that he was pretty much the only living college football analyst who still had the ability to recall famous pre-modern era college games or had a strong grasp of the history of college football? I guess that's not enough for people today. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

I for one will miss him. He was highly entertaining (he had been doing a podcast for ESPN Radio every week that I enjoyed listening to) and helped me become more interested in the history of college football. That's enough for me. Sure, I didn't always agree with him, but he was entertaining and knowledgeable. Hard to beat that.

I will miss him too. I remember when he used to make his prediction for the NC. He would look at the schedules and pick a team that he thought could win every game. Often he would pick a dark horse, but his reasoning was sound. He wasn't trying to pick the best team, he was trying to pick the team that he thought could best navagate it's schedule.

I wasn't necessarily a fan of Beano Cook, but he had a whole lot more cred than Mr. Mascot Lover.

I actually like Beano. He did great segments on Colin Cowherd's radio show & yes he was a great historian of the game. His love of ND just got on my nerves.
