I don't know how many of you guys are college wrestling fans, but I love wrestling. Great sport.

Last night NDSU beat #24/#16 Boise State in a dual here in Fargo. Good win for the Bison.

Next week the Bison have a quad with #1 Gophers - Eastern Michigan - Itasca CC. I wish they had another D1 team instead of ICC but oh well.

That will come down to Gophs/Bison in the final. Gophers will win.....probably in 7 or 8 of the weight classes. They are stacked this year. Looking forward to watching some of it.

I follow wrestling, mostly EIWA teams since there is a good chance that my son will be wrestling for one of them next year. :thumb:

We've been a wrestling family for a while. Last year I added the Big Ten network to my cable package just so that we could watch wrestling! We also attend Lehigh matches every once and a while.

We also attend lots of high school matches and tourneys.

With Maryland and Rutgers headed for the BIg Ten the ACC and EIWA each lose a team. Rumors are that Binghampton and Boston U will be leaving the CAA to join the EIWA.

This will give the EIWA 15 teams: Army, Navy, American, Franklin & Marshall, Bucknell, Lehigh, Sacred Heart, Brown, Columbia, Penn, Princeton, Harvard, Cornell, Binghampton and Boston University.

It seems as if the CAA is to wrestling what the Big East is to FBS, potentially losing 3 teams in two years (ODU is leaving for the MAC).

Lehigh and Cornell have very good wrestling programs.

Cornell's Dake is awesome. 3X NCAA champion and maybe a 4th this year. He pinned Penn State's Taylor this summer at the Olympic Freestyle Trials.

Bosak is also very good. Champ last year at 184.

Dake pinned Taylor in freestyle. They wrestled folkstyle (which is what high schools and colleges use) a couple of weeks ago and Dake won in OT.

NDSU faired pretty well against the #1 Gophers last weekend. Winning 4 of 10 matches but losing 12-22.

Bison have the #4 ranked recruiting class coming in next year. Coach Kish (Ex-Gopher) has done a great job at NDSU. Looking forward to having some AAs this year.

Hey thanks!!

The Lehmann kid is a local kid that is ranked #8 at 197 this year. Although, someone I think over on BV said that he was #2 at 182. His brother Tyler (197) becomes eligible after Xmas. He is going to be awesome. He was 91-0 his last 2 yrs and trained at the Olympic Training Center for a year and a half. IMO, he might be an AA this year....he is that good.

Just got back from the VMI at Franklin & Marshall match. Great match, F&M won first 5 weights and built up a 20-0 lead thanks to 5 bonus points. VMI won last 5 matches, but only had 1 bonus point.

F&M held on for a 20-16 win.

F&M is Division I for wrestling, Division III for every other sport. This is their coaches third year with the team and the program seems to be on the rise. The team is young with only 1 senior and 1 junior, they should make some noise in the EIWA the next few years.

#22 NDSU wrestles #13-14 Oregon State on Sunday in Fargo.

The Beavers wrestle the Gophers on saturday then turn around and wrestle the Bison on sunday.

IMO, the Gophers should easily win the match...probably 7-8 wins. The Bison are going to have their hands full come sunday. The Beavers have 6 guys nationally ranked right now.

Not college wrestling, but rather than start a new thread...

My sons high school season got off to a good start. The team went 5-0 to win the tourney they were in. My son went 5-0 with 4 pins and a 15-0 tech fall.

Last years team was the best in school history, finishing 20-2 and in the top 8 in PA. This years team may be even better. Currently ranked 3rd in PA. :thumb:

Pretty awesome job by your son.....4 pins and a TF. Penn is also a very good HS wrestling state.

Gophers squeeked by Oregon State yesterday 21-18...won 6 of 10 matches. Bison have their work cut out today. They probably will not win but you never know.

Ouch!

Bison took one on the chin yesterday. Oregon State won 26-11 with the Bison winning 3 matches (ones they should have). OSU was tough. Good dual.

The EIWA has accepted four new teams to full membership in the EIWA:
Binghamton, Boston U, Drexel and Hofstra will join the conference.

This will bring membership in the nation's largest wrestling conference to 18:
American University
Army
Binghamton
Boston University - has announced that they are dropping the program after next season. There is an ongoing effort to save BU wrestling, let's hope it succeeds.
Brown University
Bucknell University
Columbia University
Cornell University
Drexel University
Franklin & Marshall College - my son will be here next year, hopes to land the starting spot at either 174 or 184. :thumb:
Harvard University
Hofstra University
Lehigh University
Navy
University of Pennsylvania
Princeton University
Rutgers University - will be leaving for the Big 10 after next year
Sacred Heart University - the program has been down as of late, but seems to be making an effort to compete. They have signed 14 recruits so far.
