INDIANAPOLIS — The field of 64 teams competing for the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship was announced Monday by the DI baseball committee.
The national top eight seeds are North Carolina (52-8), Vanderbilt (51-9), Oregon State (45-10), LSU (52-9), Cal State Fullerton (48-8), Virginia (47-10), Florida State (44-15) and Oregon (45-14).
The Southeastern Conference led all conferences in the number of teams in the championship field with nine, while the Atlantic Coast Conference has eight. The Pac-12 and Sun Belt conferences have four.
Liberty is in the pod at South Carolina, bringing the season full circle for the Flames.
The Flames probably don't stand much of a chance of making it out of their pod, much less winning it all. But they'll sure make a fight of it, and it would be nice to see.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
Good luck to all of the FCS teams. I see 16 plus several others from FCS conferences without FB programs. I have:
Towson
William & Mary
Mercer
Coastal Carolina
Liberty
Central Arkansas
Sam Houston State
Valparaiso
Columbia
Savannah State
Bryant
Austin Peay
Elon
Jackson State
South Dakota State
Texas-San Antonio

You apparently forgot San Diego. They are the autobid from the WCC (football in the PFL). And also ETSU, they will return football in 2016 (a la New Haven in D2).
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

You are correct about San Diego, but not ETSU, where my wife attended. They do not play FCS football currently, so I don't consider them FCS any more than I consider UNC-W, a member of the CAA who doesn't play football.

Actually, ETSU IS FCS. As part of their re-instatement to the SoCon, they are re-starting their football program in time for the 2015 season.

Should they have a title or two? Probably. However, only one team wins and that team can come from anywhere
It's not like I'm saying the kids suck or the coach Martin should be fired. To each their own I guess, as a fan it's annoying to see a great coach not win a title.

No doubt. Not sure what got me hooked on FSU baseball but I'm ready to see them finally win one

I follow FSU sports as close as I do Southern's, they're playing much better than they did in the ACC tourney.
