The sanctions should be eliminated immediately.

I didn't know the faculty, athletic department and all the student athletes were engaged in this.

"the faculty, athletic department and al the student athletes" weren't engaged in paying off Reggie Bush (or whatever USC was penalized for), or for SMU's violations in the 80's. Are you saying that there shouldn't be any NCAA sanctions for anyone?

I'm saying that punitively punishing the current administrations for past transgressions that were performed by those who are no longer associated with said program is ridiculous. That's what criminal courts are for. Personally I felt from the beginning that the NCAA overstepped on this. But that's just my opinion.

I don't want the potential deterrent for harboring a sex fugitive to be, "Well, we may lose some scholarships for a few years..." This incident in particular goes beyond sports and by proxy, beyond the reach of the NCAA jurisdiction.

OK.

Lets say the current administration at DSU did what PSU did...you fire them all and move on with no penalty's? WHAT FUCKING PLANET ARE YOU ON?

I thought that's what criminal courts and lawsuits were for? :suspicious:

What does 20 scholarships really mean? What kind of "punishment" is that? That's what I'm talking about. This hamfisted way that the NCAA went about it was pointless, proven by the fact that they're now rolling it back for "good behavior". If anything it should have been the Death Penalty for a few years. Then you're actually punishing the school (for whatever purpose that serves) and not the people who have nothing to do with it NOW.

The Penn State community is so friggin sanctimonious its sad. They've whined about the penalties since Day 1. Yea well when Reggie Bush takes $$ from an agent and is gone making millions in the NFL why do the players that had nothing to do with it pay the price of a bowl ban and scholarship reductions? I don't remember anyone saying that was unfair. However, young kids get molested in the football facilities at PSU and the top admins of the school including the head football coach knew & everyone whines about the harshness of the penalties? The NCAA just should've given PSU a death penalty for 2 years IMO.

This is the complete bullshit that comes from the ESPN headline readers.

Has is occurred to you that USC was sanctioned by the NCAA because USC actually violated NCAA rules? Penn State did not and never has.

There is absolutely no evidence that any kid was ever molested by Sandusky at Penn State. There is no evidence that anyone at Penn State was aware of Sandusky's molestation of kids.

Meh. Sandusky is in prison and Paterno died of guilt. Why punish the innocent?

Paterno died of lung cancer. He had no reason to feel guilty.

Key word: NCAA rules

It was strictly a PR ploy from the beginning. I'm ok with the fine, I'm ok with the bowl ban, I would have been ok with the Death Penalty. But this 20 scholarships, we're going to punish you to be a pseudo-FCS team for the next five years, reduction was idiotic. Just shut down the program or allow the students to compete ON THE FIELD.

That's what I thought. All you have is speculation in the Freeh Report (which I'm sure you did not read) and nothing else.

So please, explain to us how Sandusky was indicted by a grand jury and sent to prison for the rest of his life if there was, as you claim, zero evidence that he molested children.

Jesus H. Titty-Fucking Christ! Are you retarded? Where did I say that Sandusky did not molest children?
