He says that the NCAA is not the "Minor Leagues" and cites baseball, golf and hockey as examples of minor league systems that football and basketball should model their minor league systems based on those.

If implemented, will this affect the popularity of college football and basketball, but by how much? Will they become middle-of-the-pack sports like college baseball currently is?

Delany's an idiot, but I've felt for quite awhile that the NFL should have graded minor leagues a la MLB. Some teams (notably the Iggles) had some semblance of a minor league system in the past, but they've pretty much disappeared. It'd be a good chance for a kid with no chance at finishing a college degree to make some money, but they'd better ALSO take note from the experiences of many minor league baseball players: there are NO guarantees. You might just end up getting stranded at AA, and never see the light of day in an NFL stadium.

That said, take ANYTING that elitist prig Delany says with a grain of salt....
