Cray D-II Play

While I'm not generally a fan of the pistol (and the start of THIS play is an example of why (the back hits the hole standing straight up), late in this play, the back flips over a DB and keeps on running. Not sure how legal the play is (hurdling is technically against the rules, but it never gets called), but it is WAY cool to watch....

I don't know. It just is. But it's never called. Heck, I just saw a helping the runner call a couple of weeks ago for the first time EVER. That never gets called, either....

Are you talking about some one else from the offense catching and/or keeping the RB from going down? That sahit gets called all the time on the goal line.

It's more along the lines of a back getting stuffed, and other offensive guys start pushing him from behind. Though I'm sure what you're seeing would be included, too....

Shockingly SH is wrong again...
hurdling is only illegal in freaking high school due thanks to the complete incompetent National Federation of High Schools - seriously a terribly run thing that cares about nothing except $...not the NCAA, not the NAIA, not the NCCAA, not the NFL, not the JUCO level (who follows the NCAA rule book), not the CFL, not the XFL, not the NFLE, not the IFL, not the AFL, not any of the other minor league football leagues....none of them.
Straight from the NCAA rule book
Page 33
SECTION 15. Hurdling
ARTICLE 1. a. Hurdling is an attempt by a player to jump with one or both
feet or knees foremost over an opponent who is still on his feet (Rule 9-1-13).
b. “On his feet’’ means that no part of the opponent’s body other than one or
both feet is in contact with the ground.
Page 91
Hurdling
ARTICLE 13. There shall be no hurdling (Exception: The ball carrier may
hurdle an opponent).

The rule book goes on to explain the illegal situations for the defense to hurdle...but when done by the offense it is never illegal to hurdle an opponent

The word hurdle never appears in the NFL rule book...or the NAIA rule book...
Hell the letters h, u, r, and d never appear in that order in the entire rule book

To be honest...I'm not even finding the hurdle rule in any NFHS publication...

Didn't the Fridge get called for trying to carry Payton into the endzone in the '85 Super Bowl.

What does "cray" mean?

Also...how does the pistol formation make the rb hit the hole standing straight up?
That is an issue with the rb not the formation.

Is this something little girls say? I mean, I get why you or SCBH would know it. You both are swimming in a sea of estrogen.

You're right in that it's not the fault of the formation, clenz. It's just that wherever I've seen it, the coaches are letting the backs get away with doing it. Somehow, they're getting big holes NOW, but when defenses catch up to it (as the did with every innovation from the Single Wing to the Run & Shoot), cue Michael Irvin and his cronies, because some poor, lazy back is going to get "Jacked up!"

Aren't you like, 73? Why are you using the pseudo-word "cray?" It's just...creepy.

Casy it's a sprint draw.
