In spite of being legally blind, Patrick Yarber became the first man thought to have been to every Football Bowl Subdivision stadium in America on Nov. 9, when he watched Old Dominion win at Idaho.

Now, thanks to a philanthropic Los Angeles software engineer, the 53-year-old retired Nashville banker is headed to Monday’s Bowl Championship Series national championship game between Auburn and Florida State at the Rose Bowl, weather permitting.

David Hay, a 38-year Los Angeles software engineer who acquires and sells tickets as a hobby, said he read about Yarber in The Virginian-Pilot. Yarber’s vision is succumbing to retinitis pigmentosa and macular degeneration, yet he has visited all 125 FBS stadiums in recent years.
