They may make it to the Nationals (both qualified for regionals - need to get top 12 at regionals) but unlikely that either will make finals of the 4x400 at nationals. There are 13 teams who have gone sub 3:33 and 6 are sub 3:30 led by Texas at 3:25.05. Last year, it took 3:32.72 to make the finals and you need to be top 8 to get to the finals (really top 3 of each heat plus next 2 fastest). A 3:32.25 didn't make it because they did not get top 2 in their heat and were slower than 2 others who also didn't get top 2 in their heat.

Both schools are going to have to run the race of their lives!!!! Everyone must average at least 52 or faster per leg to make finals.

NDSU had no chance to get her. She qualified for the 2008 Olympic trials in the 800 as a sophomore in HS.

Tribe
just saw the national list for the women's 400 and Ashley Tinglestad is the fastest among the quarter milers for NDSU running 52.87 you think she could have a shot at the finals.I know that 52.8 must drop to low 51 or 50 point!!!!

She will have to upset some people just to get out of regionals (nevertheless finals at nationals). Only 12 from each region make it out of regionals to the Championship and top 8 make finals. She is 18th seed in the Western Region so she will need to finish ahead of some people at regionals who are better seeded than her just to make it to nationals

She may have been recruited there (I have no clue) but it would be kind of like if Andrew Wiggins was recruited by a school like the University of Toronto (where he grew up) for basketball. You may let the student know you are interested but don't spend a lot of resources to get the person because you have no chance of getting them.

Of course that goes without saying she must be in top top shape to advance.I think she could a lot of the talent is in the east regional and the Bison is in the west.

That brings up a point in recruiting policy making: Does one go hard for a local kid knowing there's probably a short chance of getting them, or showing a LITTLE interest (with the understanding that you don't think you got a shot) and risk having the kid say he left town because you "weren't interested?"

This is something "little name" schools all over have to weigh....
