Vacate all your wins the past 50 years, kill your coach, send the offender to prison, clean house of all staff linked to the case, lose postseason eligibility during this entire phase, and then they'll be glad to take your call.AZGrizFan wrote:Montana is still waiting for it's phone call. Line must be busy or something...I'm sure they're calling...
Especially in the rare occurrence where they get something right.∞∞∞ wrote:Gotta love the NCAA...

They had to vacate something like 15 years worth of wins even though most all of them were after Sandusky retired as defensive coordinator. I know the NCAA has a rather broad (& seldom used) "morals clause" or whatever, but the Sandusky issue really was really a matter for civil & criminal court & outside (or should be outside, IMO) the NCAA's purview.
The Montana sanctions were totally unrelated, seeing as the sexual assault scandal (if there even was one) had nothing to do—and was not mentioned—with the NCAA penalties. You could argue UM's sanctions were too harsh (I'm personally on the fence there), but the Penn State thing is irrelevant to that issue.
And exactly what I would have typed if I'd given two shits.93henfan wrote:Mvemjsunpx wrote:Penn State's sanctions were rather flailing & kneejerk. They stay home if they go 5-7....

This has been in the works for a while. More coincidental than suspicious.Pwns wrote:Very suspicious timing. On the year when the B1G's guarantee of the Rose Bowl disappears and on the week after the whole league takes a beatdown.
Still, the sanctions were kneejerk never should've been that severe. Just example of people losing all common sense whenever it comes to anything related to wrongdoings against children.
Yeah right nothing innocent about him he got off easy dying from cancer didn't have to face questions from media about Sandusky!!!!!Grizalltheway wrote:Kill your coach. Poor, innocent Joe Pa.

That means that any bowl revenue will be donated to child abuse prevention charities. All expenses related to travel, hotels, food, etc. would be incurred by Penn State and none of the revenue would reach Penn State.
I'm not really sure why you think there is "so much money in that program." The athletic department's finances are in dire straits right now. If not prohibited from doing so by the NCAA, the AD would be cutting non-revenue programs right and left.vutomcat wrote:CitadelGrad wrote:Penn State probably won't be able to afford to go bowling. I don't think they could afford not to go. Can you imagine all the bad press if they do decline? Besides, they have so much money in that program, they can afford it.
Penn State football generates over 100 million dollars a year.CitadelGrad wrote:I'm not really sure why you think there is "so much money in that program." OK, you've addressed revenues. What about expenses?vutomcat wrote:Penn State football generates over 100 million dollars a year.CitadelGrad wrote:

The top football programs spend about 20-35 million a year according to Forbes 2013 article.CitadelGrad wrote:OK, you've addressed revenues. What about expenses?vutomcat wrote:
