At the very least, this is the beginning of the end for Mark Emmert. Potentially it could be the final nail in the NCAA's coffin.

Am I the only one who really has to work on feeling any sympathy for Penn State? As bad as the NCAA has been for as long as they have been bad, I still don't feel sorry for Penn State. I root for the kids in the pads but the institution (and Joe)is forever marred in my memory.

Good for you on the school move. I mildly pull for Penn State at the FBS level. They were always the closest team worth watching (Temple, Nova, Rutgers, Maryland all historically sucked).

There is no proof that Spanier, Curley, Shultz or Paterno knew that Sandusky was sexually abusing children. The key witness, McQueary, has changed his story so many times that he has lost all credibility. Even the kid in the shower (Victim #2) released a statement through his attorney that he was not sexually assaulted that night and that McQueary's claim that he saw him being sodomized is false. He was sexually abused by Sandusky at other times, but not that night and not on the Penn State campus.

If you want to blame someone for ignoring Sandusky's sexual abuse of children, you can start with soon-to-be former Governor Corbett. When he was the PA AG, he knew of Sandusky, had overwhelming evidence that he was sexually abusing children, yet declined to prosecute.

Nothing that you wrote above is accurate.

Children were molested here. There was no time for common sense or calm examination of the facts. Blood needed to be spilled and heads needed to be rolling and the NCAA needed to attack with blind, unfocused rage. At least until people cool off and then we can reduce the penalties.

And the irony is that the legal system was already taking care of this. Why the NCAA felt that this was a sports matter was the big question. Anyone who could and should be prosecuted is either dead, in jail, or is currently being prosecuted. The wrong-doers have/are being dealt with. The rest of it - the school, the thousands upon thousands of people associated with Penn State who had nothing to do with this didn't and don't deserve the scorn that some appear to be happy to heap upon them.

How many people at nova knew that Gary McLain was doing coke before basketball games but kept it quiet because he was one helluva point guard and because the basketball program needed to be protected? How many people at nova knew that Howard Porter had taken money while playing basketball at nova but kept it quiet because he was a stud and because the basketball program needed to be protected? How many people at nova knew that phone cards were being passed out like candy but kept quiet because the basketball program needed to be maintained? Glass houses, man, glass houses.
